Mech Game - Demo Map for new Build – codename “Metallblech”

I have the artwork ready for a new Demo map. It is a Battletech / Mechwarrior / Gundam like modular Mech design. The 3D model is build in modular parts for equipment, weapon and body parts. The modules are exported as separate md5 files. This enables a individual Mech configuration as well as proper hit location system and the destruction of body parts.
The bone setup and animations allow a code controlled movement of the arm, weapon, upper body and torso to aim at the mouse position while having a unlinked walk diction(in the same way that Mechwarrior 3 functioned).
Image

*4 weapon attach position right hand, left hand, torso right and left.
*full set of animations for movement and combat
*all body parts as separate md5 files that use the same animation files
*4 destruction / damage texture stages for all body parts
*6 diffident weapon types: rockets, machine-guns, rail-guns, plasma blasters and lasers
*10 different base skins and textures for custom looks
*60 Player character images (128x128 for chat massages)
*60 new environment textures for the Mech Game - Demo Map
*20 Map models for more complex scene object like bridges and trees.
*6 Tank models
*4 static gun tower models.

Game Play suggestions Action simulation game play:

*Movement with the keyboard and aiming as well as torso twisting with the mouse.
*Movement walking and different speed setting up to running (related to Mech configuration). Jumping with jump jets (limited use duration).
*Third person over shoulder camera or first person simulation cockpit view.
*Limited weapon ammunition in relation to the Mech configuration
*Radar screen showing enemy's and secondary and primary objectives
*HUD and GUI showing weapon status and damage monitor as well as a compass (similar to the swarm map GUI)
*Hit location with different hit-points and damage model to remove destroyed equipment and weapons.
*Arena PVP map and Mission cooperative map with AI controlled opponents (reuses swam map AI)

I have most of the artwork ready but since Alon's(kripken's) time is rather limited I would like to ask if some of you would like to help use with the implementation of this demo for the next official build.

Greetings

cronos(Gregor)

Wow 0.0

Really nice stuff there cronos, pop on our IRC channel (#syntensity on freenode.net it's where we do most of the development discussion) and we'll see what we can do. Honestly, I'd do my best to pull Bios, Quaker and T7G into helping develop this, we need a killer map and /this/ is definitely something that could steer us in that direction.

[EDIT] Oh, hehe, forgot that it's you GK, good to see you're still around :) We've been looking for a game to work on, and this should really help get the coders we have inspired

Hello all and TheAncientGoat

You can get the basic mesh and animation md5 file to test them from the following location:

The archive includes the textures as well as combined and the basic separate component meshes. All md5 files work with the same set of animations.

Hello all

You can get the GUI for the damage monitor diagram from this location:

Image

http://www.maxfantasy.org/GUI_damage_monitor_diagram_gk.rar

Function:

This damage monitor diagram should be sown in the lower right of the screen. I shows the current damage level in the different hit locations. The _01 image's are the green undamaged version while the _6 is the one used for a destroyed part.

Greetings

This looks like it will be awesome :)

I'll be helping as much as I can, but we really need additional people as my time is limited. The more help we get, the faster the new release can happen :)

Just wanted to chime in and say that I'm on board for helping out with this game. I'm tied up until about Tuesday, but I should be able to put in some time towards the end of the week.

This is the GUI part for the radar system:

Image

The radar system shows all map contacts that are in range. Additionally the radar highlights the last attacked enemy and or the selected target. The radar contacts move relative to the camera view vector. The radar flashes up with the orange circle section out of the diction of the last incoming fire. The orange circle section fades out in 2 seconds. See the attached image and linked file for more details:

Hello All

If you like to see the md5 files and animations outside of the game engine you can use the tools that are available on the following page:

Hello qubodup the sound effect that you linked would definitely fit and help with the impression of huge Mechs. I would suggest to write a script that associates every animation of the Units with the appropriate sounds. What do you think about this ?

Cronos: Spiney compiled a very nice soundpack from all over the web, it's in the Syntensity asset system (http://www.syntensity.com:8888/tracker/ ... bbfe54e5e/) and he posted about it in Bios' forums here

Did you model all these yourself?

I only ask because the texture jobs are much much better on those units than on the mech. Obviously it is important to make sure of copyright etc when putting assets into a game.

Will these all be openly licensed under CC-by-SA or a similar license?

Charlie, GK (chronos) is actually a pretty good modeler :P The mechs look a lot better with normal maps + specularity, although I do admit the texture looks a bit monotonous from the screens shown here. GK has done basically all the models for Syntensity so far, and a few for Sauerbraten if I'm not mistaken.

And no, I don't think he'll be licensing them openly, at least for the time being.

It wasn't an accusation, it was a request for clarification.
