Hi,

is the stuff written in this part of the wiki out of date?
http://freegamedev.net/wiki/Content_Tool_Tasks

At least it seems that the "simple math in resize boxes" feature was introduced in the latest version of gimp.

You seem to be better informed and should be able to make that judgement better than I.

The history page [1] might help you decide

Feel free to update.. It is a wiki after all :)

fyi: I positioned the navbar in the wiki at the top, as it is on the other pages of the 'network'.

cache reload required (shift+reload) to see.

This is indeed convinient.

I have been editing the wiki a little. I removed many pages and merged them to have less distributed content.

I deleted a lot of links to tutorials/documentation that are either trivial to find or not freely licensed. I believe we should focus in this wiki on freely licensed content.

I also completely reworked http://freegamedev.net/wiki/Art_asset_resources which I believe to be one of the most useful pieces of information on the wiki.

I updated part of http://freegamedev.net/wiki/Art_asset_resources which also made me realize that resources tend to disappear into nothingness. As a reaction I created a backup of Blender Open Textures http://qubodup.wordpress.com/2012/05/28 ... s-one-day/

Suggestions and contributions welcome!

I have intensively reworked http://freegamedev.net/wiki/Art_asset_resources to have more lines/categories and repetition or repositories rather than having complex tables. Before there was one table for 3d models/levels/textures/materials, now there are a table for each. Before OGA was only int the 'mixed' category, now all its categories are in the respective sections of the article.

I threw out anything had didn't have mainly CC0/CCBY3/CCBYSA3/GPL licenses, since DFSG rejected CC licenses <= 2.5.

I hope this made the list much more useful than it was http://freegamedev.net/wiki/index.php?t ... oldid=2924

If you find mistakes or have suggestions, please write!

Yeah, and you deleted at least 3 of the links I had recently added to the page. Amongst which CCMixter, and Archive.org. While you keep links to "Jamendo" or stuff like ### which has nothing very extraordinary.
You also eradicated valuable stuff which unfortunately has a good proportion of CC < 2.5 licensed material, damn it, for once free game developpers had the opportunity to get their way through a real listener perspective more than by garbage-collecting free assets which have a good chance to be unvaluable and irrevelant to their game.
I would simply have to link particular artists from within the websites I mentionned to satisfy the "explicit license" requirement, though I wish I had not to do that.
That said, I understand the strict license requirement, so even though it's a full move backward from what I added I hope something constructive will be able to grow from it, especially since seeing free music represented by some crappy websites with a corpote feel rather than others which are certainly much more fidel in spirit to free software leaves me a not so satisfying feeling.

Ideally, archive.org and ccmixter would be extended to have clear license-filtered browsing.

I would simply have to link particular artists from within the websites I mentionned to satisfy the "explicit license" requirement, though I wish I had not to do that.

It might be a good alternative to pick some of the best tracks and upload them to OpenGameArt or another site that allows to upload music and is somewhat usable and advertise the other tracks in the description.

Uhmm, I just realized that I broke the wiki link with some DNS changes that I did recently.
Will try to find a work-around, but likely I will not be able to fix it only from my side without reverting it to the old system (which I don't want as I need to redirect the top-level domain to my server)...

But since one-one complained I guess one-one looked at the wiki recently? :p

The old wiki is probably gone for good, and I don't have a backup of it either. It is still on the server this forum runs on, but I can't fix it and given how outdated it was, maybe also not worth the effort.
In case anyone is motivated to make a new one I linked on on our Gitea instance:
https://git.freegamedev.net/FreeGameDev.net/Wiki/wiki
But I doubt I fill find the time to fill it with content. Volunteers welcome :)

There is already libregamewiki.org. Are you having a feud or something? I thought FLOSS culture was supposed to be non-competitive.

No, we always used to have a game *development* oriented wiki here, but is was rarely updated and I recently managed to break the DNS entry for it.
LibreGameWiki is great, but more *player* oriented.
