I'd love to be part of the Planet Feeds. I'm not entirely sure what goes where, but there's 2 feeds I keep.

name = Nushio's Blog

name = Nushio's Blog

name = Unsealed: Whispers of Wisdom

name = Unsealed: Whispers of Wisdom github commit log

The first and second one are my personal blog. The first feed brings any articles I categorized as Gaming (Though not necessarily about free software games, I do talk about games in Linux) while the second feed talks about Free Software in general (Which may or may not include Gaming)

The third feed is 'only' about my game, Unsealed: Whispers of Wisdom, a game about Open Source Wizards against evil.

Finally, the fourth feed is about my game's commit log on github, which could go on PlanetRev if you want.

I'll leave it up to you guys to decide which one(s) to use. Thanks for hosting the planet! I've subscribed to it as part of my daily feeds to read :-)

Is there a way to combine the tags or would you like to start using a "open source games" or "free software games" tag from now on?

I could make a new category if that's what required. I don't blog about propietary games though(Unless they have something to do with Linux, like Torchlight coming to Linux or how to use Wii-peripherals on Linux) so IMO, the "Gaming" category should be enough.

Would blogging about board games also be discouraged on the planet? (I haven't written about them, just wondering though, because I probably will in the future)

http://planet.freegamedev.net/
is about playbale games that are open source, dev news but also release announcment and such

http://planetdev.freegamedev.net/
is about game engines or not-yet-playable games that are open source, dev news usually

I'd include board games that are free-as-in-freedom (cc-by or cc-by-sa, not -nc or -nd licensed game documents) but non-freely licensed linux and board games shouldn't be on the planets.

If you want, create a new tag (if it's impossible to filter feed using 2 tags) or I'll just add [http://k3rnel.net/category/unsealed/feed/].

I made a new feed:

For planet.freegamedev.net
http://k3rnel.net/category/free-software-games/feed/

For planetdev.freegamedev.net
http://k3rnel.net/category/unsealed/feed/

I won't post stuff about board games using either tag. Thanks.

Thanks Nushio, I added these two and the rev feed (hope it works, we didn't try github feeds yet I believe).

Cheers

Something that's been bugging me for a while - Stellar Forces became closed source a long time ago and needs removing from the feed.

I haven't been using rss since google reader shut down. I feel more free too. :)

Removed stellar forces. Update might take a few hours.

Hej!

I don't know if you got my email, but since it's been a few days, I thought I'd try here.
I ask for my projects, xoreos (Atom feed) to be added to the Planet (or possibly PlanetDev; posts are not release information but development-related).

xoreos is a project to reimplement BioWare's Aurora games, starting with Neverwinter Nights, up to and including Dragon Age 2. We require the original (proprietary) game data of those games and as such, xoreos is akin to projects like ScummVM, ResidualVM and GemRB.

So while xoreos itself is FLOSS (licensed under the terms of the GPLv3+), it does depend on non-FLOSS data. If this is outside of the scope of the FreeGameDev Planet, I apologize for wasting your time.

xoreos has already been talked about here before. As you can see, traffic on the xoreos blog is low and progress of the project as a whole is slow. I'm still looking for more people to join me in my work; I'm hoping for more exposure with the inclusion of the feed into the planet.

Thanks.

Looks interesting DrMcCoy. Please do post about it in Showcase & Collaboration.

As for adding to the planet feed - that's not something I know how to do. Hopefully somebody will show up soon.

Once someone with access to the planet feed is around, it would be nice also to have the news page of the Godot Engine added: http://www.godotengine.org/projects/godot-engine/news (there is an atom feed).

Ping? The libre gaming world changes every now and then, but the Planet feeds haven't been updated for maybe two years. Is there any way I could get access to it to do some cleaning and add new valid feeds?

To be honest, I have no idea where the feeds are managed. We could do with centralizing the documentation for this.

I'd still be very interested in getting xoreos (*) into one of the feeds.

So far I had no reply to my request, neither here nor on my mail. :(

(*) And in case anybody is interested in an update: I got all targeted games to show preliminary ingame graphics, we had our first release, and we're currently adding the scripting interpreter to all the games. And I recently fiddled around with KotOR environment mapping. Also, we're still looking for more devs! :)

All feeds asked for since Feb 2015 have now been added! We also have a new process for proposing new feeds directly: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=7209

Please drop Frogatto (or move to DevPlanet as its engine-only).

I completely re-did the planets on a federated microblogging platform (Hubzilla), kicked out a lot of old feeds that were not working anymore and added a lot of new ones.

You can access them here:
https://social.freegamedev.net/channel/planet
https://social.freegamedev.net/channel/devplanet

If you have a federated microblogging account that speaks zot, statusnet or activitypub (e.g. GNUSocial, Postactiv, Mastodon, Pleroma, Hubzilla etc.) you can subscribe to and comment on the feeds with the following webfinger adresses:
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
planet@social.freegamedev.net
devplanet@social.freegamedev.net

If there is sufficient demand for it, Diaspora is a possible to enable.

New entries from the RSS feeds will start to populate these pages/channels and will be retained for 3 months. Stale feeds will be automatically disabled after 6 months of inactivity.

Account creation on social.freegamedev.net is for now request only, but after some further testing will probably be enabled. But ultimately you can register on any other public fediverse instance and already use it. If you register an Hubzilla account you can also easily migrate your account later due to it's nomadic identify feature.

For general discussion or posting additional new feeds, either use this thread or the new group discussion at https://social.freegamedev.net/channel/freegamedev or freegamedev@social.freegamedev.net

So the https://planetdev.freegamedev.net/atom.xml and http://planet.freegamedev.net/atom.xml feeds are now obsolete, and https://social.freegamedev.net/feed/devplanet and https://social.freegamedev.net/feed/planet are the new ones?

Is there a list of what feeds are aggregated in each?

More specifically, is xoreos still in the planet dev one? :P
I mean, it took me quite some poking people here before it was added, I'd hate to lose that again.

Julius {l Wrote}:Stale feeds will be automatically disabled after 6 months of inactivity.

Does that mean that, should I not post an update for xoreos in 6 months, it'll be removed from the aggregation? Not a fan of that, to be honest. Due to RL stuff, I didn't post anything for a year before resuming only recently.

Heh, that was quick that you figured out the feed URLs. But if fact I encourage you to subscribe to it not via ATOM but with an actual fediverse account.

We will not disable the old planets for now, so feel free to keep using them, but I don't think there will be new feeds added.

xoreos is on the new feed already, no worries. In fact it was the very first one I added to the dev planet.

I disabled the connections view for the planets as subscribers are also shown in it, but you are right, a list is needed. I will put all the included feeds it on the associated wikis here:
https://social.freegamedev.net/wiki/planet
https://social.freegamedev.net/wiki/devplanet
(HubZilla is a really nice multipurpose platform ;) )

Regarding the stale feeds... that is a feature to reduce the server load. I increased the duration to one year for now. The feeds also do not get removed from the system, just marked as stale and not pulled anymore. They can be re-actived with one click according to the documentation.
