What do you think the tag line should be? The poll will close after 5 days as I'm sure we can reach an agreement by then.

The one I set originally: "Open source game development"

PS: It's "All your ... are belong to us" ;)

PPS: You don't really want to have "free and open source software" in the title, do you?

PPPS: You know what a quality tagline is? "be short"

Actually, a quality tagline is concise (rather than just short).

You're right, I'm wrong.
"Free and open source" ... ugh

I don't like the separation of "community" and "development". If "community" needs to be included (This is a forum, it's obvious that it is a community so that word is just a biz-style no-information non-concise filler) then it should be "open source game development community". The development perspective of foss games is the main point, not the player perspective. I'm sure "player vs developer" is something we have different understandings of. Let me visualize:

Much ado about nothing.. On the other hand we're discussing not just a tagline but the identity of this community. To me, it is an open source game community of developers, not an open source games community of players.

I wouldn't be so sure. I don't think we want to dissuade non-developers. We were all once non-developers.

How about the tag line being just:
"Free software & open source games"

As you point out, 'community' is somewhat redundant. The structure of the forum already contains lots of developer-centric areas, and it is FreeGameDev too, so one might argue the term 'developer' is equally redundant.

charlie {l Wrote}:"Free software & open source games"

I think that "Free software & open source" is confusing to people who don't know the meaning of "free software" (yet ^^). And annoying to some people (me at least) who know what it means.

When you say "games" it implies playing but does not imply development. It would be contradictory to the "Dev" above, so I'd just repeat it.
"Free as in freedom gamedev"
"Free as in freedom game development"
Sound good to me, but whether or not "free as in freedom" sounds better than "free foftware" or "open source" is probably a matter of taste. (And nobody start discussing the difference in meaning!)

"Game" would be redundant too. :D Only "open source" would stay because "free" is ambiguous. If only the domain name was "opengamedev" ^^

I got one.5 more:
03:12 < qubodup> "open source games: discuss, develop, contribute"
03:12 < qubodup> "open source games - discuss, develop, contribute"

charlie suggested
02:52 < charlieg1> "open source game collaboration"
03:07 < charlieg1> collaborate, coordinate, contribute

good night :)

I like this one, the 5th that you forgot to post:

"open source games - discuss, develop, collaborate"
