charlie {l Wrote}:"Free software & open source games"
I think that "Free software & open source" is confusing to people who don't know the meaning of "free software" (yet ^^). And annoying to some people (me at least) who know what it means.
When you say "games" it implies playing but does not imply development. It would be contradictory to the "Dev" above, so I'd just repeat it.
"Free as in freedom gamedev"
"Free as in freedom game development"
Sound good to me, but whether or not "free as in freedom" sounds better than "free foftware" or "open source" is probably a matter of taste. (And nobody start discussing the difference in meaning!)
charlie {l Wrote}:As you point out, 'community' is somewhat redundant. The structure of the forum already contains lots of developer-centric areas, and it is FreeGameDev too, so one might argue the term 'developer' is equally redundant.
"Game" would be redundant too.
Only "open source" would stay because "free" is ambiguous. If only the domain name was "
opengamedev" ^^
