[deprecated] Forum styling

You can switch the skin in ucp.php?i=165!

I'm playing around with a style based on the current default with a lot of help and guidance by Tranberry. I'll use this thread to show you our results from time to time.
forum-20091211.png

Question: Do you think having a dark theme as default (what guests would see) is acceptable? For this forum? Examples: http://alientrap.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=28 http://www.flickr.com/photos/qubodup/se ... 90/detail/

Also, this link might allow you to preview it: ?style=3

PS: comment us to death etc :D

Personally, I don't like dark themes. It reminds me too much of lame forums filled with kiddies. :P Furthermore, it's more tiresome for the eyes to have a dark theme and light text.

Two color variations. Better than orange.

It is important to see in which forums there are new posts... the new style of the Nexuiz forum is an example how to do it very wrong ;) The current style is already not very eye friendly, because the orange in the icon is only a few pixels wide.

I hope you noticed that all "icons" are not replaced as the old "bubbles" are straggling like in this forum.
I agree with Q until I post differently.

On an unrelated note could you upgrade the forums to the latest version which includes rss feeds.

Tried the qsilver theme and came to the conclusion that there's way too much white :P You should include grey borders in the post view. Other than that, nicely done :)

3.0.6 broke the recaptcha mod, tried to fix it but couldn't, they added a captcha plugin system or so now, so it works rather differently =(

hmm yes too white is not good. Try giving every other post a light grey background; e.g. one with a white background, the next with a grey one etc.

Hi,
I have just tested the new forum styling and I think links to mange accounts at the top could be in red. I think also a line between the header of the page and the content would be good.

Otherwise, this skin is great.
I love all icons ! :P

Sindwiller {l Wrote}:See, nobodoy actually checks this forum anymore :)

I modified the qsilver skin to make the forums inside a category stand out more by
1. Changing font size of category link and forum links
2. Changing the small forum icon.
What do you think?
