IP Banning issue should be solved

IP Banning issue should be solved

Postby hagish » 28 Jul 2019, 11:37

Hello everybody.

Due to the way the forum is setup it recently banned some internal IPs. This probably resulted in temporary banning a lot of people. Sorry for that. I excluded those internal IPs from the banning. So this should be resolved and hopefully not crop up again.
Greetings

Huzzah! The downtime was short, so no biggie. I hope you aren't too ban-happy; sometimes the spambots are good company.

Due to the way we have set this forum up, 99% of the spam is only visible to us moderators (as the first post always requires approval). We sadly get a lot of spam lately, which is why this situation came up.

NP but it scared me a little, I though I was legitimately banned for my political opinions here :)

Yeah, um, hi, it was me.

Saw a serial spammer with a garbage email/username pattern so tried to ban by IP and well what do you diddly do da I thought that IP didn't look quite right.

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing! Sorry everybody.
