Argentum Age: open-source digital CCG (MTG inspired)

Been playing this a bit lately:

http://www.argentumage.com/

It's a collectible card game based computer game heavily inspired by the classic Magic the Gathering, but with it's own twists and a simple game board. Overall I would say the MTG inspiration makes it easy to pick up for people who know that card game, but it is different enough to be not a clone and with quite fun additional tactics based on the lane based combat.

It seems like some of the devs from Battle for Wesnoth and Frogatto are behind this.

Damn, it requires downloading stuff before playing. Is there any way to make it use a proxy?

Yep, it tries to download 650 Mb of files... wow, that's a lot :)
And no way to specify WHERE to download all those files (I'm low on system partition space)...

No need to run the installer on the system partition I guess.

But I agree... this autoupdater is not the most convenient when installing initially. I would suggest you file a issue on github to make the devs aware that it can cause issues.

Nope, it's installing DLC (downloaded content) into /home/user/.citadel or \Users\user\Appdata\Roaming\Citadel in Windows.
I've reported that on Discord and devs promised to take look at that issue when they have the time. Thou it's not as easy as it seems as this is governed by the Engine they use.
For me it's relatively important as I have a small SSD shared by Windows and Linux dual-boot :) It's only 32 GB if I remember correctly.

Ok that is indeed not good practise, but you can easily symlink that directory to another drive in Linux.

They use their own engine, so that may not be as much of a problem. They've (AFAIK) made some changes to the engine to accomodate Argentum Age requirements already.

Hello again! I still have several servers that I use for my own projects but don't use anywhere close to their potential so I am offering to share these servers with would-be Argentum Age operators for free. If you don't mind sharing a server with me just let me know and I can get you set up. :) Just go to https://ArgentumAge.GamePlayer.club/HostSplash, choose the "shared" plan and check out using the "offline" payment method so you don't have to pay. Be sure and put that you are wanting the free shared hosting offer in the comment field. You will get a shared Linux server running Argentum Age... If you decide to cancel or switch hosting companies you will get a tar file to install on another host...

If you have any questions just ask!
