Hi,

I just quickly wanted to announce that we have a first release candidate of SuperTuxkart 0.7 - the kart fun racer for Linux, Mac, and Windows. This is the first version to use irrlicht.

For more details look at our web page, a few more screenshots or go directly to the 0.7 rc1 download page.

Feedback as always welcome (and we would also welcome more developers :) )

Cheers,
Joerg

Great work :)
I've got only one question: Why did you change Mozilla's icon? It doesn't really fit the styles of the others any more ...

The only real problem are the high graphic requirements. Due to this it's not possible any more to run this "arcade racer" STK on a old machine... :o
But I think the greatly improved graphics are neutralizing this problem.

If you disable animations in the graphics configuration menu, you will see greatly improved FPS - and likely it will run around the same speed as 0.6.x. :)

Hi,

we have just uploaded a second release candidate. Major changes:
  • Asian fonts are now included in the package.
  • Several memory leaks have been fixed (which had caused problems with music and sound effects)
  • Some tracks were improved to disable unintentional shortcuts and incorrect rescues.
  • Some minor bug fixes.
We also updated the translations, but not all translations are complete yet. We encourage all translators to complete their translations, as the strings are now frozen, and we expect to do the release within a week.

Details about translating STK are on our translation page, check Launchpad to see what is still outstanding (click on 'View all languages').

Testing and feedback welcome!

Cheers,
Joerg
