Found that. Could it be used?

Yep, but it's only a rig so somebody needs to model and texture a horse first.

I think we should use the Pink Pony. :D

It isn't nearly fluffy enough... missing that horn on its forehead... and it's not riding on rainbows... This should be fixed ;)

I tested megaglest yesterday, there is a horse model with a man on it in the indian faction that would be great for freesiege. ( It's an indian warrior, but that should be ok for now )

There is a horse in glest!
It's in tech/units/horseman/models, something like that.
It's in g3d, that's hard to import in blender but I successed with this script : http://glest.wikia.com/wiki/Importscript
(I had to modify it by hardcoding the path to the png file, thought)
And it seems the texture is not imported.

But the horseman looks great, and I think the swordman would also fit for the soldier sprite.

Gladius has offered us a very nice horse model. Unfortunately it isn't animated yet, but I'll see what I can do. Or would anyone else like to animate it?

Why don't we use the horse model from glest? It already have a soldier on it, and it's animated. The format is not handy, but I hoped somebody could managed to import it correctly.

Oh I forgot that. Where can I download it? Or could you upload the imported version here?

I can't find the sources, but they are in 3DSmax format.
To import g3d : http://glest.wikia.com/wiki/Importscript
This could be used for the soldier :

Meet the new pattern screen :

I think one of these days I'll do a series of "before/after" comparison screenshots. (I'll probably wait 'till all assets are free)

Yeah, that's the point. The active pattern is on a wood plank in foreground, so it cover a little the pattern before and after it.

IMHO the names above and below selection should be moved higher/lower at the same time, if that is easy to do. :)

I'm still working on these animations for the Ram. I stopped for a long time.

These are some attack animations only 2 frames so far.

I'm not happy with the distance the ram appears to be moving, it is not really obvious that it is attacking.

[EDIT]
Added another frame and created an animated gif so you can see it in action.

Not bad, but I don't like the little men.
You can put less of them, like two on each side, and they need to be redraw ^^

But I'm not sur they are required, the ram looks fine without them.

Thanks for helping :)

I think if I remove them completely it would be easier. They are just another layer on the picture, remove the layer and you get the just the ram.

[EDIT]

They have been altered now.

That is great!
I tested in game, it looks fine.

Now could you do a movement animation based on this sprite : http://www.users.on.net/~richardjam13/r ... frame1.png (this mean same height and same wheel position)?
I think just making the wheels rotate and the rest vibrating would be ok.

[EDIT]
The movement jitter can be increased if needed.

I had to put the images in the other order so the wheels rotate in the right direction.
Maybe the rotating movement could be better with one more step though.

The last thing needed for the ram is a picture of it broken.

I finished the work on the ram. I created 4 frames for the movement and placed them in the right order this time. I created a single image for the ram broken.

However I can't upload them to my FTP/web server since my phone line died last week and I lost my ADSL connection. All I have is the 3G connection on my iPad. I should get service restored by this weekend but if not, I'll use some other way to upload the images.
