Sorry my English is not very good, I suppose this doesn't have to be a piece of RAM (random access memory), right? XD
Can you tell me exactly what a ram is? :)

I've created a simple ram picture for your game.
Image

I'm not a very good artist. But I have improved from my days of programmer artwork. I'm not certain if I can do any other pictures for your game but I will try.

Here is a copy of that ram before I resized and placed it in the frame.

Also what is the correct licence for my art to be incorporated into this game? Would CC BY-SA be acceptable?

Ha-ha, the original image looks a bit bulky, but a recized version looks perfect :)
Afaik CC BY-SA is a good license, but you'd better ask somebody more skilled in this question.

Thanks a lot for this contribution!
As the actual ram sprite is ugly and not animated I'll also use your picture for the ingame sprite. Would you be able to do an animated version?

CC-BY-SA is just fine, I'm waiting for your confirmation you put this image under CC-BY-SA to push it on the git.

These images

http://www.users.on.net/~richardjam13/ram.png
are now licensed CC-BY-SA
Author: Richard James
You can commit them to your project.

Animation, I haven't tried that in years. I'll see what I can do.

Edit

I had a look at the ram animations. There are only 2 frames. Is there meant to be more? Also if shown in battle the ram needs men to push it, I'll have to add them.

There is actually no animation, that's why there is only two frames.
You can do as many frames as you need for the animation, then you name them correctly and indicates the good number of frames in "anim.cfg" at the good line (ram walking for example)
The game need a walking animation (maybe just rotating the wheels would be ok), a fighting animation (here it would be great if the ram actually attack), and a dead ram sprite. (the ram damaged with the men deads for example)

Awesome ram :)

MCMic: when you have a completely free release would you also try to get it into the Ubuntu repos? That would be awesome :)

Yeah, I think so. (Actually I'll try to get it into Debian, so Ubuntu will include it later.)

But first I still need to replace a lot of the files.
What do you think about using this file from OGA for the soldier animations : http://opengameart.org/sites/default/fi ... eton_0.png
It's a skeleton so it does not fit completely but at least it's under a free license, unlike the actual animation.

There is no horse animation on OGA :-/

Files that still miss :
-animations for the soldier
-animations for the veteran
-animations for the knight
-sprite for dead golem, dead dragon, dead ram, dead veteran, dead knight and dead soldier.

Maybe you can use our Knight (from OD) for the knight or solder animation. You can try and ask Skorpio if he could make the animations you need and render them to a avi/movie file? He looks like this:
Image

We also have a dragon that could be usefull :)
Image
But it does not have flying animations, as far as I know, only walking.

That was a great idea, skorpio already did me these amazing sprites for the veteran:
http://mcmic.haxx.es/Veteran.zip
I tested walking and fight animation in game, it looks good. I think I'll remove one or two sprite at the end of the fighting animation to make it faster.
Maybe it's a bit too sided thought.

The game does not support death animation right now, but I'll try to find the time to add it, because it's a great enhancement.

Those sprites look good but would look even better if the cloak wasn't so 'thin' and wrapped around the knight a bit. Or maybe just remove the cloak altogether.

Cool :) The best part about this project is that you utilize allot of free content from other places :)

I think the knight is licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0, you have to ask Surt the creator of the model. That means you have to choose CC-BY-SA 3.0 for all derivative works, right? I painted only the texture and animated him.

I, too, was concerned about the camera angle. I'm going to create another batch of sprites from a slightly more frontal view. Then the cloak will be more visible as well.

Here's the new batch of sprites. I made two different versions of each animation, one blurred one sharp. Walkb, Fightb and Deathb are blurred. I didn't know what you prefer.

Oh and I think the license is GPL 2.0 at least the text in the blend file says that. ;)

And does anyone know where we can find a horse model? Except the pink pony. lol

I cannot remember this guy, who is he? Do you think we could get him to issue us the model under CC-BY-SA 3.0 instead, so all our content (OD) is using that license?

Surt made the kobold and the knight models and I think he wrote on the old forum that he wanted to release them under CC-BY-SA 3.0, but in the Knight blend file I can find only the GPL text. And I double licensed the texture under CC-BY-SA 3.0 and GPL 3.

Thanks, the blurr version looks perfect :-)

For the licensing, "GPLv2 ©Surt" is okay? Is there an email or something? (a source link?)
I would like double-license CC-BY-SAv3 too, because I'm starting to have too different licenses in the game and that cannot be good ^^

Can't we use this for the horse : http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File: ... imated.gif :-D
Seriously, I thought about ryzom, but it seems there are no horses in it.

You can probably use it for now. But I think it will be more difficult to replace the women with a knight than it is to make a horse and put a knight on it and animate it. And making the horse from scratch will probably look better.

If you think it can be of any use then I'm happy enough to relicense my work.
My work on the knight and kobold are now also licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0.
