Return to Earth - open source top-down cyberpunk shooter

Hi everyone,

I would like to share my project with you. It's an open source cyberpunk shooter named "Return to Earth". The project is in alpha-state, but it's running and sometimes even feels like a game. It's written in python and pygame, but the alpha2 comes with a Windows standalone-exe - so you don't have to worry about getting it running. (Linux-users should use the source and install pygame, which is included in the most distributions - no compilation needed.)

I would be glad, if you would give it a try.

Music, sounds and sprites are taken from opengameart.org.

Platforms: Windows, Linux, Mac OS X (?)
Current version: 0.1.0.alpha3

Not bad! The visual style reminds me of pax britannica http://paxbritannica.henk.ca (I'd consider it steampunk, rather than cyberpunk visual style or simply sci-fi) and I love listening to the in-game music while playing another cyberpunk game: http://www.in-fi-del.net/static/cult-05/index.html

Missing:
Explosion sounds
In-game credits
Cost indicator in purchase menu (before buying)
Player-ship-big-ship (2nd enemy) collision detection
Pickups
Saving progress when leaving the game.
The game doesn't return to the shop screen when the time runs out, it seems to take 10 more seconds
It seems that bullet collision detection with bigger ship (3rd enemy) doesn't always work. Also It should be possible to hurt it while it's still moving into the screen (seems to be only possible as soon as its center is on the screen).
With both upgrades shooting as the player is too loud.

For my taste, the levels take too long.
