Board/solitaire game, OGS Mahjong

Board/solitaire game, OGS Mahjong

Postby KaiSD » 23 Sep 2012, 19:24

Hi!

I'm Ivan Korystin. Creating videogames is my profession, creating open-source videogames is my hobby.
Together with Michael Kapelko we created a small team known as the Opensource Game Studio.
It's a spare-time project both for me and for him.

Today we have released the OGS Mahjong 1.0.

It's a simple mahjong solitaire game with nice 3D graphics and relaxing soundtrack.

You can find out more on a game's web page.

Right now we're starting to work on our next project. It's slightly bigger and more complex than the mahjong solitaire, so we need more good men in our team.
Most of all, we need a good artist, that can take the role of art director.
We also need a concept artist, 3D modellers, programmers, game/level designers, scripters, translators etc. (more information here)
We can (and we will) continue our work even without new people, but with them we can make a better game in less time.

Feel free to contact us, if you want to help. :)

This is a really neat project, I've seen it appear a few times in the planet.

I'll fix that youtube link for you (i.e. only the video id with the [youtube] tags).

nice to know OGS is still alive and kicking :) Afaik there was a topic about OGS on this forum, see viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1738&hilit=OGS

Also I'm a bit proud that Russians are working on this open source project.

I installed it and play a little.

The game is polished and runs fine.

Great work! :)

But the most interesting part is the final goal of the Opensource Game Studio, "..., it’s our first step in a long path to our toolset and full scale RPG in the end." :o ... great!

I read some of the articles in the blog "Numbers in words", and are really interesting.

I wonder what the next project will be.

+1 more. Not Russian, but a Ukraine developer:
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=703&hilit=zengl

I've seen some of his threads on russian websites so this project is somehow active.

Hello everybody!
Since the release of OGS Mahjong 1.0, almost 5 months ago, the game was downloaded more than 6,000 times by users from around the world, and every day the number of downloads increases by 20-30.
Unfortunately, this is the only thing we know about our users. We can't find out if they are still playing the game or deleted it after a couple of days. We don't know what do they like or dislike in our game. We have no idea what improvements they wish to see in future.
So, we have created a small survey to research this. If you tried our game, or keep playing it, or just have something to say to us - then please take the survey or share your thoughts at this forum, or at our forum, or via personal messages.

When we will complete our research, i'm going to write an article about the results, but we need some data in order to get any usefull results.

Link to the survey in English: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1rTfZac ... g/viewform
Link to the survey in Russian: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1SDUCgn ... E/viewform

If your friends or family are playing OGS Mahjong - send them a link, please.

P.S. After taking the survey you will get a code. Save it. You will be able to use it to receive a gift from us in future.

I was going to take your survey but was too lazy. The only complaint I have about the game is it's not packaged for Debian :(

I did play the game eons ago and liked it but too lazy to do the repository thing. I did read that at sometime in future you guys will try to do an rpg but then guess there is change in the roadmap or something.

Anyways, as far as you guys have a fun time doing whatever you decide to do.

I couldn't get it to load using Desura. It was complaining about ssl 0.9.8 missing, but Desura seemed to have downloaded it. This is a fresh install of Mint 14 (I'd expect it to be reproducable).
