SuperTux Advance

SuperTux Advance is a game in the style of SuperTux with some mechanical differences. The name comes from the art style being similar to how it would have looked on a GBA, but with a larger screen resolution than a GBA.

Code is licensed under GPL 3. Assets range from CC0 to CC-BY-SA, with the ones I made being CC-BY-SA 4.0.

I'm currently working on the code and most of the graphics myself. I would appreciate any help with level design and enemy concepts if anyone would like to contribute those. Level lengths should be around what you'd find in SMB3.

The most recent development video to date is here:

I'm not sure what else to put here right now, so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

Code can be found at https://github.com/kelvinshadewing/supertux-advance

Looks good. How playable is it? You should fix the link. It goes to guthub not github. Never heard of Squirrel before.

Fixed it. Currently the first two levels are playable. Still got quite a long way to go.

This looks excellent, both gameplay and visuals, especially the animations. I love that ice skating running animation Tux has going with the ice powerup.
Some of the sound effects seem a bit questionable but hearing that some of them are directly from Supertux I'm sure that's still WIP/placeholders.
I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

Should we give Supertux Advance it's own part of the supertux fourms?
Like, general, contribution, level design, and STA.

Oh gosh, I don't think it really needs that. XD It's just a simple thing I started to learn game dev with.

I've added some more stuff. There's now a starting town called Pennyton that will feature the rescued mascots, and has an optional tutorial area that teaches all the basics. IIRC, I've also updated the Brux runtime since then, so the new nightly build should be downloaded, too.

Hey, pretty amazing graphics and great project, you're very talented. Is that My Little Pony character tho? You won't be able to free-license that (also I recommend checking out carefully the licensing terms of each mascot of the FOSS projects, they are sometimes proprietary as well, STK learned this the hard way and had to remove some mascots).

The pony is Plasma Breeze. She's a public domain character, not from My Little Pony.
