Tempest in the Aether Forums {l Wrote}:Idea for the meeting (hope I got this right):

Creation of a 501c3 organization as umbrella organization for games, digital art and education projects
Improving the cooperation between the different projects

Summery of advantages of a 501c3:

Possibility to apply for USA federal grants
Possibility to accept donations
Tax deductions

Concerns towards a 501c3:

focused on USA only
needs a lot work to be found and costs money
more organizational work for each project

Conclusions of the discussion:

No agreement on the 501c3
Clear agreement on improving cooperation between the projects

Results:

creation of the #fossgames channel on freenode
Agreement on regular meetings

Future:

Planned meeting for the 3rd of July at 22:00 UTC in #fossgames
Agenda: A) Introduction of your project and resources
B) Brainstorm ahead of time on ways we may benefit eachother and be prepared to discuss your ideas
The 501c3 will probably still created with those interested in it now and stay open for others to join in later
general idling in #fossgames to get to know each other better

Draft for the 501c3: https://docs.google.com/document/d/18cp ... trwM&pli=1
Just in case someone wants to read it...here you can find the logs of the actual meeting: http://pastebin.com/X5025Bzr

Complains about my bad English or style should be directed to /dev/null please. If you have something to add because I either misunderstood or forgot something please do so.

What do you guys think? Persnally, I think it could work, if there are driven people behind it. Kind of a duplication of what Freegamer does, but maybe on a larger scale?

That's for the organization only though. Also, no reason why benefits from there can't go into international development

The argument pertaining to the United States is over which country to register the non-profit organization in. A lot of us defected from the Atomic Blue crowd, and our general understanding is that in order to register a not-for-profit in country X, one of the directors has to actually live in country X. A lot of us, including myself, live in the United States and because of that I'm more inclined to support it being registered here. It has nothing to do with nationalism, it's just that if we registered it in Xyz231's country and Xyz231 was the only member of us who lived there and he left the organization, then we would all be screwed. This is exactly why Atomic Blue is not a US legal entity and it will never be one.
Crossfire and Wesnoth played a game of chess. It started out as an open game.
