The Zod Engine - Remake of Z by Bitmap Brothers

Howdy I am posting about my open source SDL based remake of the Bitmap Brothers classic Z. This was an RTS game with a capture the flag twist supposed much like company of heroes. It came out at the same time as the first command and conquer however it is focus more on actions, effects and humor then massive army building. It was said by the creators to be an action game and if you play it multiplayer you'll notice that it actually is more of an action then strategy game because you need to micro command units so often especially during battle.

If someone is interested to help then you must be dedicated. This remake is developed as if it was commercial so mediocre, inexperienced or foot dragging help will actually have a negative impact on development. If you are a coder then being able to work on the main engine is probably not going to happen, you would be more welcome to work on some more side issues such as the AI or the map editor though. If we had svn you'd have to prove dedication and ability before I'd pull your code changes from my code base and proving this would be done with code not words.

However to be honest, the majority of help needed is not actually code based but busy work sorting graphics, tweaking graphics and making graphics. Also making maps and do advertising / webwork / PR etc. Maintaining linux / mac releases (and possibly other ports?). Real beta testing with good constructive ideas and the patience to wait until they get made.

It might be best to respond on the zod engine forums as well.

Thanks :p
