ARPG mod with 0 A.D. engine?

With the lead developer of SummoningWars ( http://sumwars.org/ ) stepping down, and general lack of real progress, I guess I lost hope to see a cool FOSS 3D ARPG any time soon... and in fact I am starting to think that a new project based on the quickly advancing engine 0 A.D. is using would be probably the smartest thing to do.

Sure 0 A.D. is an RTS, but actually RTS and ARPGs are quite similar in their core mechanics (just see MOBA games) thus I think it would be very feasible.

And there seems to be some interest.

One could probably also salvage quite a few things from the SumWars project, and the environmental graphics are already pretty much done with what is in 0 A.D.

So maybe we could assemble a good team to work on this? Mainly we would need a good coder willing to implement the RPG specific features with the assets already in 0 A.D., next would be a step by step improvement of enemies and probably most importantly the character models.

If you are interested please contribute to the discussion on the 0 A.D. board :)
