Anyone planning a Godot3 project?

Postby Julius » 01 Feb 2018, 14:58

As you probably already heard there is a major new release of the Godot Engine:

Anyone planning (or already working on) a cool project with it?

@Julius: I considered making a space shooter with ships like shown in https://forum.freegamedev.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7643, but I dropped it. Beside a too high effort/fun ratio in content creation, the reason was that some things like authoring and composing particle effects seemed really tedious to do. I'm not really sure if the node-based scenegraph is the best approach to this kind of game, either, but I'd be glad if one can prove me wrong.

I'm worried that Godot will eventually drop GLES2 support, so I haven't gotten too invested in it.

I would like to try using it as a level editor to feed into my own code, maybe.

Pretty cool 2D platformer as open-source (not mine obviously) looking for a new developer:

Small gif to see how it looks:

License seems fairly open, although a bit non-standard:
