I just saw this the other day. After thinking about it a bit, I have an idea but alas I don't think I will be able to create it. It is "The OpenGameArt Movie Video Game". It is an rpg. The villains are the Liberated Pixel Cup and related content. They want to convert all artwork to the same style. You play as probably a big monster, an ampersand from a roguelike, an old portrait that is public domain, and a spaceship. I don't have anything more at the moment. I did a quick look at flare and rpgboss. I couldn't get polymorphable to work in flare. rpgboss looks nice but I didn't care for the compilation/run method. Anyone know of an easy to use open source rpg editor. (Alas Bt Builder wouldn't be a good engine for the idea.)

Did you check Allacrost? Never used it, but it's well made and modable.

From quick look it is forkable not modable. I don't think it has support for creating mods. The Valyria Tear team just took Allacrost and replaced/enhanced things. There isn't one engine that can run both games from the looks of it. I could certainly do something like that but I don't think I have the time to do it before the game jam ends.

You're right. I initially though that Valkyria Tear was a mod, but **from their description which I didn't read!** it's clear that it's a fork. Ouch.
