Artist Looking for Direction

I'm a pixel artist, with a lot of computer knowledge but very limited programming experience. (Never really made anything from scratch, just edited code)

I want to make a game, either a platformer or an RPG. I really don't know that much about game design (Other than level design) and I need advice.

I want to work with 8 to 16 bit graphics, so nothing 3d or the like. I'm thinking a classic platformer, or an old final fantasy type RPG. It doesn't have to be terribly deep, it's mostly a show of my art.

http://www.frogatto.com/ has good art and perhaps you could be an addition to their team. alternatively you could try making a mod of the engine. The engine is GPLed, the art is proprietary though (but free-to-dl)

The following HTML5 RPG project is looking for an artist:

this might be just perfect for you :)

Hi, I'm Gaurav. I'm in desperate need of a pixel artist, and I'd be grateful for your help. Check out my old final fantasy type RPG online here. Let me know if you're interested in collaborating with me.

Would you be interested in making artwork for a game like this one.

It's a prototype, so the graphics suck, and it's not my project. But I'm planning to clone it for Linux. If you are interested, pm me.
