Im looking for some turn based strategy game, like Heroes of Might and Magic. I already played Wesnoth, but Im looking for something else, more HOMM like. Any suggestions?

If it is not obligatory a FOSS game I'd recommend Master of Magic (MOM), 1.3rd patch (1.1 is too easy, 2.0 is boring). I've heard of free remake, but haven't payed much attention to it.

fheroes2 is an open source implementation of Heroes of Might and Magic 2.
VCMI is an open source implementation of Heroes of Might and Magic 3. I haven't tried either so I don't know how playable they are. VCMI requires original data files it seems.
Jagged Alliance 2 - Stracciatella is an open source implementation of Jagged Alliance 2. (I know this is clone heavy that is because I was looking at
this list.
Advanced Strategic Command is another possibility. As stated I haven't tried these so I don't know how playable they are.

Well, seems that fheroes doesnt requires original files, will try that. Also, I think the first versions of HOMM were the best ones.

P.S. I've recently came upon a nice free flash interpretation of Kings Bounty

Maybe try FreeOrion? Should be similar to Master of Orion, albeit I never got into FreeOrion myself, but it could be worth another look.

There was a Heroes-like spinoff from Wesnoth, but it never got very far sadly. Would have been amazing :

Yes, I tested an early version. Too bad it was never finished. I tried FHeroes2, but requires original game files. So I guess I have to refine the search to games with free content.

I had to double check at the user name to make sure I wasn't the one who made this post. Haha, anyway, Yeah I loved Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and 3, and Also Master of Magic. If someone is going to do the programming part, I would love to make some artwork to fit the game.
