Offering Music Services

Hello community! Been a long time fan of Super Tux Kart and I regularly read the forums. I am a professional composer, have been so for 16 years. I've done films, ads and all kind of things really. The only thing I haven't done yet is computer games. I would love to write some music for any of your projects or anyone else that might need original music. I have all the necessary equipment to produce professional quality results and I'm willing to give it away for free in turn for some credit.

Hope this is something that people are interested in.

Thanks!

Hi Bollen,

this is definitely interesting! For a start, I think one song we really need to improve is the jungle track sound. So if you are interested in providing something for this track (other ideas include a more egyptian song for the pyramid track, an original song for XR591 or our title screen, a less repetitive song for the subsea track, a new song for the Black Mansion [halloween] track, a song for the minigolf track... :) ) we are most interested!

You can find some more description of the genre we are looking for here : http://supertuxkart.sourceforge.net/Sty ... ines#Music

The main thing to understand, of course, is that SuperTuxKart is an open-source game, so any music we include will need to be released under an Open license. Our license of choice is Creative Commons By Attribution Share-Alike 3.0

Thanks for your interest and looking forward to hear more :)

Oh and I forgot to say... we have our own forum, so further discussion is probably better done over there : viewforum.php?f=16

Hello, welcome!

Your offer is very generous. I hope you will find a project that you will have fun working with.

Auria already mentioned CC-BY-SA 3.0, the de-facto standard "copyleft" art asset license in open source game creation. It allows re-distribution, modifications and even re-sale one one hand but requires giving credit and making changed versions available under the same license on the other hand.

Thank you Auria, I will be in touch via SuperTuxKart's forum concerning your request.

And thank you Gubodup for the info. I am aware of the open source philosophy (I'm a Linux user) so I know what I'm getting into.

I intend to do 10 soundtracks in open source, then I think that should be enough to have some "experience and credit" in the gaming area. So grab a bargain while it lasts! Ha!

If any of you know of any other project please let them know of my offer. I will probably go out looking elsewhere too.

Ideally I would want to cover the four main genres:

1.- racer
2.- first person shooter
3.- adventure/role playing
4.- and either strategy or simulation.

This way I won't repeat myself and I can spread out stylistically i.e. orchestral, film-like, pop, jazz, etc.

Thank you qubodup! I will check the links and head over to their sites.

Pardon the ignorance but what is a platformer? And when you say music in this style (link) do you mean any of the tracks there?
