I am Carlo 'carloratm' from Italy.
I am a junior developer, with no experience in game programming at all.
My interests are music, professional audio with Linux, developing (mostly C/C++), adventure games (my all time favourite game is Monkey Island 1) and retrocomputing.
I hope i could learn something about game devloping here.

Forums are not my favourite way to communicate, i think i'll use more often IRC channel ;)

Hi there,

I'm a former computer science student who might do some code again some day (I hope). I'm from France, I have a big interest in free software and freedom in general, so I like to see these games and projects evolve. I also play a bit of music or play with sounds on Linux. Game-wise I mainly play OpenArena.

Also wanted to complain a bit because it's hard to post comments on your blog. It asks about accounts I don't have, or I can't select which google account it's going to use, not so intuitive. :p It can be a break for posting comments (at least for me, suppose it can be the same for other people).

Good luck to FGD community !

Hey there all who have introduced themselves!

You're at least the second person to complain. :) You can use the "sign out" link and then sign in with the account you want to use, but I understand that this is annoying.

There is the alternative of using http://disqus.com/ for comments, but I will not want to invest time into investigating and integrating this tool in the next few months. I attached the template, should anyone feel like trying to integrate disqus :) (not something I expect, but I've been surprised before)

Hello, my name is André Santee,
I was introduced to this forum by Michał Górny because of my current open-source engine project (Ethanon Engine – www.asantee.net/ethanon /LGPL). I hope I can contribute to the community sharing experiences and getting to know some other related projects.

This is Estralis of Illarion e.V.

We're still a bit clueless about chosing a proper licence for our game Illarion, see www.illarion.org

We hope to find some help in both, developing the game and the license issue here.

Hi y'all! Always admired the work you freegamer guys do; the new forum looks good and I'm looking forward to doing some shameless promotion for jMonkeyEngine here ;)

Through qubodup I also recently stumbled upon an interesting development in open source policies happening over at, I think it was the new blenderswap site? In any case, I would never mind being forwarded these things, and you can usually count on my support in the great work you all do for truly free software and assets.

Usually we blog about interesting stuff. :) Blendswap was mentioned in this blog post.

It's not sinking!
Anyway, I joined because well, why wouldn't I have an account here? And previous post was obviously so I could enjoy free speech as in free games.

So you have to post to authenticate? I like it.

I'm a so-called game developer with a dangerously short attention span, only completing two games as of the time of this writing. At the moment, I've gotten into developing RogueLike games, but there's no telling when that will end either. :)

I used to frequent FGD back on the old site, then I stopped. Now I'm back again. I can't guarantee that I'll contribute anything useful (or anything at all) to the community, but it's nice to be here anyway.

Hello,

I'm a French translator from http://kawasoft.fr (a team about translating Visual Novel), but I also love STK which I play on my Linux and open source games in general. I hope I could one day help you (for now, I am improving my skills)
