Hi! I go by Mezz whilst out and about gaming on the Internet.

I'm from Washington DC, USA. Been researching various frameworks and systems for building my own 3d games. Math is a weakness, so I'm teaching myself and learning the ideas now - and hoping I can abstract the hard stuff with some of the wonderful open source tools and kits that are available.

In my wanderings, I found Stress Free Zone :) (SFZ; http://sfz.schattenkind.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) and removed all the asshat postings :x from someone blocking the board. If I can't code, I can at least help clean up and organize! LOL!

Professionally, I'm a project manager and accessibility design specialist, have done quality assurance, independent verification and validation, systems integration, instructional design, policy, and IT Governance functions.
Personally, I'm indexing a lot of the frameworks and ideas and hope to put them up on my blog to help myself and friends better use the tools that exist. I've noticed there are some great tools already available, but because of poor organization, lack of resources, lack of direction for those asking to contribute, we all miss out. So hopefully I can contribute with that effort as I find them and I'll post my web links soon. I've also been poor, homeless, rich, had a family, divorced, had a boyfriend, raised Baptist, Methodist, and now am a Buddhist. Played role playing games since the original D&D (fantasy, space are my two favorites), I've traveled to Japan while in the USMC, done art, photography, blacksmithing, some coding, foundational HTML, and am currently working through Blender3d training.

Please don't hesitate to email me if you have questions or think I can be of assistance. May you be slow to anger, quick to joy, and any suffering you may have remind you to have compassion for others,

~Mezz

I'm freelikegnu. I host a site for the SCOURGE2 game: http://scourgeweb.org. I started modding with Dungeon Siege (the now defunct Herena Forge was my home) but after feeling the sting of proprietary games becoming unsupported and unsupportable I favor FOSS gaming :D I'm hoping that I can rehabilitate my 3D modelling and animation skills and just continue making art through FOSS games like LoS and SCOURGE2 and contribute back to the community.ll

I'm currently working on PARPG and WTactics.

Just chimed in... like... more officially :)

Hi all.

I'm farcodev, designer/developper of FAR Colony.

My main skills are development (Delphi/Freepascal) and 3d (w/ Maya). And since i'm a one man army for FARC i simply do all, and take PubDomain/GPL/CC assets when i find some.

I figured these times if an open-source centered forum, at the same level of TIG or the like, could exists. I have my answer now ;) Thanks to the blogspots stats Referring URLs

I'm happy that you exists because i'm a bit fedup of the indie way of view...it's too much an another world for me.

Just my 2 cents :)

a blend between bad english and a feeling :D

It's just that sometimes they talk too much about their business plan, or use too much the marketing word "awesome".
Ok i know that not all is free in our world and we all need cash...
Don't bother too much, i'm grumpy sometimes :?

I'm nobody, big fan free libre and open source software/hardware and scientific/technological advancement for the sake of all humanity rather then just a few at the expense of everybody else.

Because when you do something that costs others more then it rewards you, you harm yourself indirectly anyways.

I'm NeoEd from North America. Not that I'm an expert, but very few things seem as cool as an open source game of modular design which always gets better. Oh the possibilities  :!: .

Greetings,

I am Bamko. Back in 2008 I started The Glomp to cater to "free to develop" game projects. I was finding a lot of people who wanted to "make games" and a lot of projects promising just that, but one would have to spend weeks (if not months) downloading and researching, just to find out that either the project is not as far as they suggest, or you need a certain skill set to use their work.

I then spent a year or so, as a GM on a small server running a private MMO. I came back after the server shut down (miss my friends :( ) and found the small community I built had evaporated.

I have come over to Freegamedev, hoping I will find a home here as well as find a way to work with others and move on from there, without having to start over from scratch. I think most projects do not bother with a Newb page, or a "recipe" as I call it. A Recipe would include the steps needed to get started using said tools, including as 'ingredients' the skills needed to utilize them. I have been re-orging my site, so most of the content is hidden to non-moderators, though still some in forums, and you can see the OGRE3D Recipe I started to get an idea of the idea.

Hopefully I can mothball that and come here, Easier to be a team member than working alone in the ether...
