Hello forums! I'm Jordan Woolery, I run a semi-small YouTube channel based around computers, both old and new, and like to check out various related things to tech! I also like to check out open source things, install and poke around with Linux, and post feedback when relevant to help out.

Since I'm first chiming in, I won't post any links to my channel as to not trigger any post blocks, but you can find me on YouTube via my full name listed above. I hope my company is welcome aboard here!

Welcome to the forums everyone.

@Jordan Woolery: I looked over your channel. I've been saving old computers for a while as well. I got one in an arcade machine case. I grabbed a couple monitors/tvs thinking I could make another one or two. Any open source games you like to play?

Hello,

I am BadEarthPenguin (obviously a pseudonym), I am from Germany, and I am a programming layperson who is primarily interested in SuperTux.
(Although I have many interests, so I could get interested in other FOSS games in the future, too.)

While playing SuperTux, I have gotten some interesting ideas about possible new enemies, bosses and items that might be added to the game.
Unfortunately, I am neither a good programmer nor a good cartoonist, so the best I can do is describe my ideas with words. I hope I can arouse some interest in my ideas from the side of the game developers. At the point when I note them down here, I have already thought a lot about them before, so I hope that they are good, well thought out ideas.

Don't wonder when I sometimes take breaks of several months between two successive posts. As I already wrote I have a lot of interests, and new SuperTux ideas is just one of them that keeps coming and going from time to time. Also, I will sometimes deliberately wait out a new SuperTux update to try it first before sharing my newest ideas.

At first, I will have to find all my notes that I have already taken about my ideas from the past. Unfortunately I struggle with order and organization, so that could take some time. (ADHD brain, sorry.) But before posting, I want to ensure I got everything together and I can explain it in a way that is understandable.

Kind regards,
BadEarthPenguin

I got into computers in the early 80's on the great 8-bit machines (at the age of 12, I started with basic in 1982 on Laser 200, Sinclair Spectrum, Amstrad CPC 464, C64, I discovered the Amiga 500 in 87 and it was a revelation. It is just the most magnificent range ever created. I went through several 500, 600, 1200, CD32 models, did ASM68K and AMOS programming, E, Blitz. Unfortunately, I had to sell the whole thing (1200 towerized +Blizzard 1230, SCSI, CDROM, multisync screen...) at the time due to lack of funds.

I recently came back to Amiga in real machines, I develop on AMOS and maybe then on Scorpion Engine if this system is developed and gets a documentation.

I program for the pleasure of coding, hoping to finish a first "Dungeon crawler oldschool" style game.

amiga boing disk

Fan of SF, SteamPunk, Jules Verne, Alice in Wonderland, Industrial Retro, Octopus, Fantasy, Dark, Gothic, Lovecraft, Vampires, Cthulhu.

I'm trying out Godot in parallel, but the Amiga always comes first...

My 1st game in development :

If you are into old school dungeon crawlers I recommend the Dungeon Crawler Jam 2022. The community is really nice and you can get a lot of good feedback.

Hey I am GreatGusto (I like my name being anonymous) and I joined this server to follow the development of Super Tux Kart and interact with the community, I like racing games and mods so this is a natural pick for me. Hopefully I can be a great steward on this server, I do not like breaking rules. :)

I also have interest in developing games, I have coding knowledge but I have a shortcoming in art skills.
