Welcome to new users. Don't be afraid to start new threads. Be sure to look around at open source games. There is more than SuperTuxKart. :)

Emmanuel Finer: Are you working on open source/free software games? Feel free to start a thread about your project if doing so. Have you heard of Gamerzilla? It is my open source game achievement system. Always looking for new games to support the system.

I'm Kim, the founder of Moonwards, and open source sandbox MMO that simulates an advanced lunar town with realistic technology and sound science. We recently released a pre-alpha demo that's available on our website of the same name.

Now that I can move my head a few inches further from the monitor and think about networking and promotion, I'm planning to participate in forums like these. But I warn you, i'm not a coder. I'm the designer and modeler.

Welcome Kim. If you are making an open source game please put a link to the source code repository on your web site. We welcome anyone interested in free software/open source game development. If you are a designer or modeler that's fine. I'm sure there are people that would like to hear about your experiences or can help with troubles you might have. I know there are modelers in the SuperTuxKart forums making tracks and new kart racers.

Welcome Henry. Are you currently working on an open source game project?

We have a link to the repo at the bottom of the main menu of the demo. I haven't put that link on the website but I'll add it to the About page.

Also, it's here - https://github.com/moonwards1/Moonwards-Virtual-Moon

We could use another modeller and a technical artist. I'll get to know people and maybe something will work out. Thanks for the welcome!

Hi everyone.
I've just registered. I am a fan of Tux and Supertuxkart.
As a beginner I'd like to put you my first question: is it possible to play STK online without downloading it?

Hey. Im Dan. Im a retired 3d artist (health not age) with time on my hands. I plan on making some assets for STK and hope to be of use to the visual side of this game.

I don't wish to offend anyone with this suggestion. I see antarctica (illricht) is still being used. Has anyone thought to switch to a current game engine like Godot? Godot is newer fully featured open source game engine with a lot more capabilities and ongoing development like Blender. Has there been any discussion about moving STK into an engine with more development? Im aware of the "its not a magic button to just move everything" issue, but this game has been in development for 20 years. This engine could reduce the development load on the devs and open up the coding to a much larger userbase than antarctica.

who's got time for that!! I'm not sure. But I will put my hand up to convert all models, animations, with optimised LODS and reduced textures. (theres a lot that could be cleaned up and standardised. Who should I talk to?

Thanks.

Hello to all new ones!

Nadal and bzerkr:
I think you should ask in the STK subforum.

Greetings
Peter

Hi, i'm Matthew. I'm not a coder, just a gamer who tries to donate to projects and report issues. I noticed the forums for STK were here so I joined for that as well as it seems like a great place to discuss free software in general. So far enjoying STK; Red Eclipse; ReTux; and finding more each week.
