I'm Dmitry from Russia, I port F/OSS games to FreeBSD, making them available for one more OS and ensuring/improving their portability along the way. I also work on porting 1998 commercial windows game Vangers (it still has many fans in RU, but I'm not sure if it was that popular in other countries) to *nix (although I'm not really sure if we will be able to release it as a free software due to licensing problems, but we should be able to release it as a free-as-in-beer for at least Linux and FBSD), and I have have other contributions to F/OSS game world, including testing, patches and bugfixes, distfile mirroring, portability consulting and general support. I'm obviously a big fan of opensource games, watching many projects closely, and always searching for new ones to check out and make a port of. I'm also a big fan of FreeGamer, because even if I encounter something seemingly exclusive and new, it'll always appear on the blog in couple of days :)

I'm a programmer. Sometimes I do art and music but I'm not good at them.

I use FOSS except at work where I'm paid to do other things.

And last night I just got my skeletal animation test working!

Hello!
Im a Student from Germany who wants to learn programming and modeling. I already tried creating a kart for STK, but I couldnt found out how to add it to the game (I made a 3D-Model in Blender). I have been playing STK since I was 10 years old and I really love the Mascot Kingdom, its residents and its game. I want to thank the creators of STK for creating this nice game, so I thought that I could create some karts for it.

Hello Everyone.
I am Linsag and I am based in Sweden
I am just someone who philosophies about games and where they could be going and as such, am putting together a project.

I know that getting the right people for the job is more important than anything, so I have no issues if I cannot keep up with projects and must depart.
The needs of the many.... you know the rest :)

Re: Introduce yourself (Help us save rainforest!)

Hey Guys! Hoping this is a good place to post. As the title suggests, myself and a team of industry experts are looking to create a Blockchain based game that empowers users to save real rainforest through an engaging mobile game experience.

We have been in rainforest preservation since 2010 and currently operate an international non-profit land preserve holding approximately 100 million square meters of land. Our vision is to leverage Ethereum ERC-721 Non-Fungible Tokens to create digital representations of individual plots of land (likely square meters) that the organization owns. These will have the opportunity to be endowed with certain properties within the game, such as containing or representing natural resources, animals, tools, rare items, etc.

We are working with the ConsenSys Token Foundry, one of the leading blockchain based development and token design studios in the world, among other strategic partners. Although our game will ultimately be launched by professional engineers and game developers, we want to explore an open-sourced game design, allowing for the community to participate in and be rewarded in tokens for the ideation and design of how the platform should operate.

In exchange for user ideas, feedback, testing, and further engagement, you will be able to create your own personalized rainforest preserve housing your tokenized rainforest, viewable on google earth and our proprietary front-end portal, allowing you to showcase your contribution as a steward of the planet.

Is this something that anybody here would be interested in helping with? Open to comments and discussion to provide more clarity on the project. Thanks!
