MiniDebConf Online Gaming Edition

Debian is doing a gaming edition of their mini online conference. This might be a good way to bring awareness to your game. Works better if your game is included in Debian but I've proposed a talk on Gamerzilla. I've started trying to get someone to package it for Debian.

I stumbled on this video. It got me thinking this could be an interesting session at minidebconf. Get a couple of developers to build games in 48 hours (not necessarily consecutive) using a set of provided assets (probably from opengameart). Could record some devlogs and play video for talk or maybe demo games and talk about what you did.

I have to say the talk by the Unvaquished team is great. Sad that the idTech community is so broken but I'm glad some people see the problem and are trying to fix it.

Yeah I agree. Really hit the nail on the head in regards to what has been irking me for a while in Quake based game dev. Also sad but true that only because of that broken release model id software was actually able to do the GPLed source dumps :-/

But besides that, pre recorded speeches are really hit and miss. The one from Unvanquished was a bit hard to follow because of that. The terminal hacking one on the other hand was cyberpunk performance art ;)
