Minetest engine and minetest games

Postby forum » 11 Aug 2020, 06:26

Hello,

I stumbled over the mintest engine and games to be played with the minetest engine and wondered if it would be worth offering an own forum for it. (the engine and the game?)

https://www.minetest.net
https://forum.minetest.net
https://dev.minetest.net
https://github.com/minetest

Furthermore, there is a free Minecraft Pi game for the Raspberry Pi:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... /minecraft
https://projects.raspberrypi.org/en/pro ... necraft-pi

What "free" exactly means, I have not investigated, though, but maybe it is different than the aforementioned minetest engine in this regard.

PS:
For those interested, it is possible to run Raspberry Pi OS on a Desktop PC or in a virtual machine:
https://projects.raspberrypi.org/en/pro ... pi-desktop
You can run e.g. Minecraft Pi there as well, and of course also the minetest engine and games. The Pi for Desktop OS is - AFAIK - a modified Debian.

Why would they need another forum if they already have one (that you linked)?

We generally don't host forums unless asked by the project's developers.

Some of the Minetest developers are members of this forum though and post from time to time :)

Yes, I understand your reasoning. So please regard my post rather as a heads-up info for interested people. Now they have the links. ;)
And sorry, I was not aware of the policy to only open new forums on developers' request, but that also makes lots of sense, as I see now. You might close this thread of you agree. Thank you.

My son and I recently got into Minetest. There are lots of bugs and broken mods it seems. (the basics seem to work though.)
