The Libregamewiki Data Project

The Libregamewiki Data Project

Postby kiba » 05 Dec 2009, 20:07

Due to the lack of manpower, the Libregamewiki encyclopedia cannot possibly hope to keep up to date many of its article. To remedy this situation, I will be working on creation of several bot programs that will gather data and edit the wiki. Moreover, this remedy will broadly expand both the depth and breadth of the project by mere efficiency in gathering and editing functions of the bot, if done properly.

My recent inactivity in libregamewiki you observed is a temporary break from editing and my energy will be focused on the data mining project.

Stay tuned for activity update and more information.

Finally got the ball running: http://github.com/kiba/Libregamewiki-Database

My plan for the moment is to delay the html extraction project, which is a more difficult adventure(People structure information about development history differently in all sort of way). Instead, I'll focus on extracting pre-defined info from a pre-defined location on a developer's URL. Tools will need to be developed to make it easier for developers to carry out a history report.

It's a bit unclear at the moment, but my master plan will get clearer as I get more information on what I want to do with the data mining project.

A change of direction: qubodup convinced me to try sourceforge.net first, since sourceforge.net data are pretty standardized.
