[APP] [WIP] STK Remote app for Android to control STK

[APP] [WIP] STK Remote app for Android to control STK

I am currently designing a fully material design app in Android Studio which lets you control SuperTuxKart over network using your phone.

Planned features
  • Control kart by rotating your phone
  • Haptic feedback (vibration) when you knock on something
  • Fully Material Design interface
  • Able to fire , look back , nitro , drift , etc using on screen buttons

All of this except the haptic feedback can be done by a simple Python Uinput driver (Work in progress). If you find this good then we can consider integrating it into the source of STK.

But will it have latency issues , I can ping my tablet from my laptop which are both connected to a Wireless-N router and the ping time is below 10ms.So at-least for me latency doesn't look like an issue

I will upload the source to my GitHub (https://github.com/SuicSoft) when the app is working.

And do you think I should use UDP or TCP ?

Wow, cool! Use UDP. It's lower latency and you don't need the error-checking of TCP. Also nice to hear that you're making usable by other programs.

Is it possible to send a UDP packet from the server (like the vibration)

I think I should replace the text with vectors

I think this is cool, but I think you should consider making this a generic gamepad app with a Linux driver. Something like this. I don't mean to discourage you at all—I think it would be great to have an open-source and Materially Designed alternative to the app I linked to.

I think I should make a separate app for that which has customizatable controls so it works with any game. This one is specifically for STK

Maybe I could update this app with material design and use the source code
