Hi,

this track does not use the latest track exporter. Are you using STK 0.7 alpha 3? Many fixes occurred so it may be a good idea to update to latest SVN

In any case,
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
<material filename="snowtrack-phoques.png" >

needs to be

{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
<material name="snowtrack-phoques.png" >

My material .xml :

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<materials>
<material name="ice_dark_transp" alpha="Y" light="N" collide="Y"/>
<material name="Ice-transp.png" alpha="Y" light="N" collide="Y" anisotropic="Y"/>
<material name="fondu1.png" alpha="Y" light="N" collide="Y"/>
<material name="snow2.png" ignore="Y" />
<material name="Slowdown.png" slowdown="0.01"/>
<material name="snowtrack-crystal.png" >
<sfx name="glace.ogg" min-speed="1" max-speed="1" rolloff="0.6"
volume="10.0" min-pitch="1.0" max-pitch="1.0" positional="N"/>
</material>
<material name="snowtrack-phoques.png" >
<sfx name="Phoques.ogg" min-speed="1" max-speed="30" rolloff="0.6"
volume="1.0" min-pitch="1.0" max-pitch="1.0" positional="y"/>
</material>
</materials>

You have to use 'filename' in the sfx entries, not 'name'. You _can_ then give them a (short) 'name', in case that you want to use the same sfx for other textures (this way there is only one change if you want to change a sfx). E.g. you would set filename="glace.ogg" name="glace" - then you can use glace in all other textures as sfx.

Cheers,
Joerg

So, is there a problem with wooden_bridge.ogg from the material.xml of snowtuxpeak track ?

1 <?xml version="1.0"?>
2 <!-- Generated with script from SVN rev 6744 -->
3 <materials>
4 <material name="ice.png" reset="Y"/>
5 <material name="invisible.png" alpha="Y" light="N"/>
6 <material name="wood_planks1.jpg">
7 <sfx filename="wooden_bridge.ogg" name="wood" rolloff="0.6" min-speed="9.0" max-speed="22.0" min-pitch="1.0" max-pitch="1.7" positional="yes" volume="1.0"/>
8 </material>
9 <material name="wood_planks1_alpha.png">
10 <sfx name="wood" rolloff="0.6" min-speed="9.0" max-speed="22.0" min-pitch="1.0" max-pitch="1.7" positional="yes" volume="1.0"/>

Rudy, s'il vous plaît de comparer les deux noeuds XML en vorte document. La première est correcte, la seconde est faux.

rudy85 {l Wrote}:So, is there a problem with wooden_bridge.ogg from the material.xml of snowtuxpeak track ?

Not that I am aware of - unless I am missing something?

7 <sfx filename="wooden_bridge.ogg" name="wood" rolloff="0.6" min-speed="9.0" max-speed="22.0" min-pitch="1.0" max-pitch="1.7" positional="yes" volume="1.0"/>
8 </material>
9 <material name="wood_planks1_alpha.png">
10 <sfx name="wood" rolloff="0.6" min-speed="9.0" max-speed="22.0" min-pitch="1.0" max-pitch="1.7" positional="yes" volume="1.0"/>
11 </material>

The first time we use 'filename' to specify the name of the ogg file, and define a 'name' ("wood"). In the 2nd material we only need the short 'name', and stk will know which .ogg file to use (from the filename attribute of the first material file).

Cheers,
Joerg

Contary to it's name, "slowdown" does not slow you down. In stead, setting a low value for "slowdown" it will all but kill your engine power. (I think "engine-power" is a better name for this variable).

I think it's better you lower max-speed instead...

in stk_config.xml, value
<engine power="400 450 500" max-speed="15 20 23" brake-factor="11.0"
max-speed-reverse-ratio="0.3"/>
but I can be wrong :)

I would be wise NOT to change the stk_config.xml since it controls the behaviour of the entire supertuxkart game.

Rudy, it should not be more than
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
<materials>
   (...)
   <material (...) max-speed="0.3"/>
   (...)
</materials>

For more information, see Materials_xml.

asciimonster {l Wrote}:For more information, see Materials_xml.

But I think I have to update that page, the details about speed limits are outdated. For now have a look at some example slowdown settings in existing materials.xml files, I hope to fix this by tomorrow.

Cheers,
Joerg

I finally found , SFX must have a name and a filename :x

{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<materials>
  <material name="ice_dark_transp" alpha="Y" light="N" collide="Y"/>
  <material name="Ice-transp.png" alpha="Y" light="N" collide="Y" anisotropic="Y"/>
  <material name="fondu1.png" alpha="Y" light="N" collide="Y"/>
  <material name="snow2.png" ignore="Y" />
  <material name="Slowdown.png" slowdown="0.1" max-speed="0.1"/>
  <material name="snowtrack-crystal.png" >
     <sfx  name="crystal" filename="crystal.ogg" min-speed="1" max-speed="1" rolloff="0.1"  volume="2.0"  positional="N"/>
  </material>
  <material name="snowtrack-phoques.png" >
      <sfx  name="phoques" filename="phoques.ogg" min-speed="1" max-speed="1" rolloff="0.1" volume="1.0"  positional="N"/>
  </material>
</materials>

A question, again, can values be under 0.1 unit (eg: 0.05) ?

Hi,

I've updated the wiki page about materials, the documentation of slowdown-time and max-speed should now be corret:
