It's a good start.
As I said on IRC you can (and should) take inspiration on our own track (especially the Christmas one) to see how they are made. You can learn a lot by understanding how the tracks are made and you have a working case that you can modify/play with values to see what change.
1) You can look for pictures online. Not one not two but at least ~10 pictures similar to what you want to do (and big high quality one where you can see all details).
2) Since the layout is done the next step is the terrain. Without terrain a track might look strange. If it's a flying track, it's better to hang it somewhere (or just add giant jet engine under). It should have something rooted to reality.
3) Learn how to use light and fog. You can do very easily some pretty nice effect with that (especially if I trust your previous post it's going to be a night track).
4) You are encourage to use our ressources (textures/objects). We got a nice snow texture and a nice ice texture that are ready to be used, so you don't have to find stuff online.
We also got ~300 objects ready to be used (not all of them are adapted for christmas) but you should look for them. They can save a lot of time, can be included easily in your track. We have christmas light, pine tree.
Also when you come on IRC you can stay a bit longer ^^. Sometime we just see your message but then you aren't here so we can't really answer you :'(.
Keep your motivation
