Hello everyone

So...
A few months ago I created two karts for STK 0.8.1. Now I ported them to the new engine.
I'm quite familiar with blender so in my opinion the karts aren't bad. Maybe it is even possible to include these karts in the core game. Who knows...
When I first saw the karts I ported to 0.8.2 beta I was a little confused. The colors of the textures are very dark and the look of the kart is not comparable with what I knew from 0.8.1. This makes it very hard to create glossmaps.
But I tried and here's the result :D :

First kart:
Amanda (mascot of Window Maker)
I know there is already a kart in the addons library, but I'm not in favour with it so I made a totally new one (because I can, duh).

I probably will in the future. But first I would like to see some feedbacks/critics from the community and maybe also from the developers.
Also these 3D-Models are part of a candidacy for a place at university. So I will see ;)

I tested Amanda.
The general geometry/texturing of the kart is good however I think the "specmap" is a little "flat". Try playing with the roughness (red channel) value to simulate crack on the surface.
Also you should avoid making metallic part black (the "wheel guard"). While currently there is no true support for metallic material so it works ok but reflection on metal takes the color of the metal.
Thus black metal means no reflection at all.

I totally agree with you. I think the colors of the Amanda-Kart very unattractive in 0.8.2. The "wheel guards" wouldn't actually be black, rather livid. But it isn't displayed right in 0.8.2.

It looks totally different... As long as I don't know how this will change for the actual release of 0.8.2, it is very hard to adjust the textures.

- When I have some time, I will create a version with brighter textures :)

A (little) update:

Amanda kart renewed
- wiped out errors in the mesh from the kart
- updated steering animations
- redone all textures, so colors fit with the new engine
- created better glossmaps

Download-links for Amanda updated in first post.
Feel free to write a feedback!

Edit: Gavroche will become nicer textures and glossmaps too! Stay tuned...

Update:

Wow! When I saw the new Amanda in the beta, I was both pleased and annoyed. Pleased, because I didn't like the previous look, and this was a major improvement. Annoyed because you took a kart I have a bad relationship with (Amanda has a propensity to target me over any other kart in the race :eew: ) and made it look and drive so amazingly well. :D

I just took Garvoche for a spin. :heart: That is a very fun kart to drive! :heart: Granted, I modded the config to fit in with the rest of my karts (light chassis, standard trans for anyone interested), or it would have been left in the dust. But wow! :D Very nicely done, and I hope it gets added in the next release.
