Hi, I'm a green hand of blender. I want to make a kart. How to texture it? I can't find the texture in the tux sample in blender.

have you an image of this kart???

a good trick for texturing is adding material and after that baking it to an image

>> select the faces and assign a material with a color, that you want

>> make some seems and unwrapp it,

>> add a new image, select "bake-mode" = textures, bake it, save this as a first image

>> add lights or ao and bake lighting or ao, save this as a second image

open both in gimp and add shadows with overlaying the second image

rubberduck, is there any tutorial for texturing? It seems the tux kart doesn't use the normal texturing method, I can't find the texture image in texture panel.

you must assign the texture in the uv-image editor:

assight some material to your kart
select your kart, go into editmode and click on the plus-symbol in the uv-image-editor(this adds a new image)
if you do this, you have a texture assigned, but this is black at the moment
unwrapp your kart.

If you bake now the materials: you get your texture, save it

here is a video, how to bake material/testures

you don't have to add a material with that texture in the material/texture-panel
