Race setup menu

Hi everyone!

I just saw a traumatizing :? thing. Look at the race setup menu:

(I took the blog's screenshot, so there are the old icons -- thanks Arthur for the "Courtesy" :) )

Here it is: I think that we can't put more icons after that. It will look too "Full". We should find an alternative way for the moment we add a "steal the sun" or another new mode.
(I say "We" but I mean: the kind, nice, sweet coder :lol: )

So, my proposition is to split the down screen in two tabs (as for the race selection menu): The first one would be relative to tracks and give an access to the number of AI players, and the other tab would be relative to arena's game. With this we could get ~6 kinds of games per tab. I think it's quite enough while the small plays can't be infinite, and I'm sure it's not so hard to make it. It will be a good improvement for small resolution players too, because the button would be bigger. Maybe we could make a third tab relative to grand prix too, and therefore get more space for track presentations in normal mode

This is currently nice but in the future if we have more game mode ... :D
Or a scrolling menu like when you choose an album on a recent walkman or Dj mix pro (But it has to stay pretty small in the menu :!: )

This looks great !
It doesn´t look any good if you have this much game modes next to each other, but I like this one a lot more.

I think it can look great but this makes me think a bit too much about an apple... (:eew: IMHO)

Sadly with this way we lose the overview for all that is available. I mean, a new player will maybe not know all the possibilities. So... I don't know if it's really a good idea. :|
(For overview, maybe we can make the selector make a full circle before choosing as in zookeeper battle (game for IOS and android))

However, if implemented, this kind of selector will have to be used somewhere else, to bring a good user-experience. And, honestly, I don't know where. It's good to see all available track, for example.

I think it's not a good argument while we have 3 slots for arena and 3 slots for track mode game free (If we go to 6 per tab).
Think about that: 12 different ways to play... (and more with a scroller as in the track selector). I'm not sure that the way-of-playing number 12 will really give something new ;) ! And my tab system is really easyer to implement. :cool:
I'm not sure it's on a new apple-like selector that hiker & co want to spend time. But I won't speak for them. If any coder reads me...

Maybe first show a screen for selecting the game mode only, then when the game mode has been selected, show a second screen with number of AI karts and level.

Is there any reason for having the trial icon mirrored? I just saw it here, but it is also the case for all screenshots in thistopic.

It's due to historical reasons: The icon looked better in this way, even if the numbers are "wrong". In fact, you cannot say it if you don't have a high resolution icon. I read it on an old topic (don't know where anymore). Consider it as... an easter egg ;)

Also please note that it's not sure yet weather easter egg hunt will be a separate mode at all, there has been some talk about integrating it into story mode which I think would be better
