Current in-progress track: Minecraft

I'm making a minecraft track! I've started the work in minecraft, and once I've done that I'll export it to blender and do the technical work there.
Should I upload screenshots?
Anyways, I've started work on this idea, just to let people know. :)

Probably need to give it a different name - voxelscape or something
that solves the trademark problem
Unless noch has a patent on cubes it sounds ok - especially as several minecraft clones have been released. - and the gameplay in stk is very different to minecraft

I've been thinking about the copyright thing. The only problem is the texture pack(I'm making it in minecraft and using a world exporter to blender). I want to use the minecraft one, but I might end up having to use a cc licensed texture pack.

On the topic of texture packs, does anyone have any suggestions of texture packs that look like minecraft that are licensed under cc with modifications allowed? If Painterly is under cc, I'll use that, but if not, I'll need something.

OK, so I looked on their site, and I couldn't find licensing info.

...?

I quickly put together a painterly pack for this one, but it sucked. I'm either going to choose better textures or find a cc licensed pack that looks like minecraft.

There's an open source Minecraft clone named Minetest, I believe. Maybe worth checking out what their textures look like and the license of them.

About minetest: because I'm using an exporter, I will likely need the format to be in that of the minecraft texture packs(in other words, the texture pack for minetest may not have all the textures I need). Also, I'm hoping to get a pack that looks similar to the original texture pack.

Hello qbgeekjtw,

qbgeekjtw {l Wrote}:I just got permission to use Quandary!!

I don't want to disappoint you, but I'm afraid you can't use it.
Not sure what he said, but he has to explicitly say it's licensed under an open license, saying "you can use it" isn't enough, I'm afraid.

My biggest concern is this sentence on the site:
Quandary 5 now features an array of sprites from talented artists, such as Rhodox (Painterly), Cap. Corn (Coterie), and Bonemouse (Isabella), in addition to ExtraNoise’s hand-crafted textures.

He needs to have permission of all those authors or their texturepacks need to be licensed under an open license already.
And looking at the Credits list of the second texture pack it's going to get even more complicated. :|

I know Terasology uses a CC licensed texture pack, but it turns out that it's licensed under CC BY-NC-SA.
