I think making the centre of the plunger transparent (as it the handle had fallen off) so that you can see your kart is an improvement.
Maybe it would be possible to make the plunger handle fall off after a second of two? (if any programmer has the time).
What do other people think?

er I like it the way it is. making a hole in the centre would make it too easy to see while driving with it on your face.
Some people are like slinkies... not really good for anything, but you still can't help smiling when you shove them down the stairs.

Or can you think of a way I can encourage the AI to fire more plungers at me so I can test it some more?

If you are using latest SVN I can send you a simple patch that would attach a plunger when you press a function key.
