There is also Tux Race (or Extreme Tux Racer or whatever it is called atm). And I would agree a game like this could be more or less a mod of STK: give some constant acceleration, change the graphics from karts to sledges (or dragons) - not sure if anyone has noticed: gnu is (from the physics) a kart with wheels ;)

Actually I was hoping he could fly when I first unlocked him. Instead he's on more of a flying squirrel rug then a flying carpet. Still I don't really like the idea of karts having special powers.

In theory you could take the concept for a track but not the models or textures or even exact route plan. Of course Nintendo would still want to sue you, they could do with the money.

If you are contributing to STK go to the STK Contribs forum and click on "Post A New Topic" text near the top and also on the bottom. Same goes for bug reports, talk, and dire accusations but in STK General. Hope that helps.

maybe make other overworld, also make custom challenge for using each Add-Ons Track will interesting. :lol: then can unlocked some favorite kart (ex:alternative tux) :cool:

I like the idea of driving through rooms (reminds me to Micro Machines), so a few suggestions for rooms:
-scientific laboratory
-gym hall
-hospital

I have a suggestion for many existing tracks :
In the farm track, there is a big bale of straw that can hit your kart. I like very much this, I think the challenge is funnier especially with a lot of AI karts. So can we make more objects like this in every tracks? IMHO it will be more fun and difficult to finish a lap without being hit by something :D
For instance in snowpeek or in snow mountain we can add a giant snow ball, in sand track a sand tornado, in mines a wagon cutting our road...
In a scientific laboratory we can do also lot of this objects (steam, gravity fields...)
What do you think? Is that possible?

It certainly is possible (and is more or less what I want to have). The only problem is finding more experienced blender artists who can do this (with good enough quality and at the same time keeping the number of triangles low).

One other idea: In the new movie "wreck it Ralph", there is a story about an racing game called "suggar rush" and showes various track sequences. The track looks very interesting to model :)

In general it might be interesting to reengenier tracks of movies, for example the Fast and furious, Star Wars Podracer scenes or to recycle older racing games? For example Stunts, GTA or the old Need for speed series. Need further ideas? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7X-VJkPzhY

But I don't know, what copyright says about reeusing ideas in a new context and if you might need an permission :/

We can be inspired by but certainly not reproduce tracks for tribute.
There're so many tracks to rework. So bring others from elsewhere even break unity that we must bring to the game.
And new players might say that is just plagiarize…

But, I agree, there're great things to learn from Sugar Rush.
If we think well, not a lot of things :
for examples how to place vegetation ; put shawdows finally !

Look track in this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-2wQ0NIIg8 ), with shadows we really think through a wooded path ; not in STK actually.

That's right the effect is quiet simple, but works very well :)

I agree with you jymis, we can pick some ideas, but not reproduce the tracks. We must aim at the STK style : cartoon style with mascots of the opensource software :)
