Had a track idea where your are sometimes inside a slinky but also going down stairs...
Underneath someone's bed...
A wind farm.
A sky or underground level with clouds and trees, a beehive... or other insects .... maybe make microcars the size of ants...
A big treehouse
A Zoo where you smash through cage bars
A candy factory
A construction site
A terrarium
Had an idea for water addons you could use some of Stuntrally 2.6.x water engine...

rico {l Wrote}:openstreetmap if it's free to add to this.

There is a way to create very simple STK tracks from OSM data: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Supertuxkart
Of course, it is very limited, relies on how well-mapped the area is and would take manual adjustment to make it look good.

Here's an example from 2013: (skip to 0:27) https://vimeo.com/63076857

You'll need Blender. STK doesn't have a built-in editor like SuperTux.

I won't go into it unless you want me to.

1 - A built-in track editor! :)

2 - For tracks: I think something in a tube may be very funny and new. The interest is to drive on all the surface of the tube to reach different things (zone, passage, etc).
That could be in a pipe or in the sewers, don't really matter the theme until it's in a tube!

3 - ho and of course: a labyrinth!! With many many cross roads so you don't know where to go. Should be excellent online! :D
Don't need to be a real complex one, just many many cross road, and NO easy short way.

How hard is it to learn Blender and how much learning is required to be able to create custom tracks for STK? I'm asking since I'd like to make my own custom tracks for STK but I already have a lot to do outside this forum (hence why I'm inactive most of the time) and wouldn't have a lot of time to contribute.

Well that's very hard to say and depends on multiply factors.
If you already have a lot of experience with other software like photo or video editing, it will probably be easier for you.

I would say to learn the very basic fundamentals it takes between 1 to 5 weeks depending on how much time you can or want to invest (maybe more if you really don't have much time).

That said knowing the fundamentals of a 3D software doesn't mean that you are able to come up with great tracks already, as 3D modelling is much more about experience than knowing the software.
Especially at the beginning it can be a bit frustrating as blender can be very overwhelming.

But we have a great library with a lot of cool objects such as: houses, trees, lamps etc. Which allows you to build very very simple tracks and still have some cool decoration.
And also a community that is always willing to help if there are any problems.

If you wanna try to learn Blender to make STK Tracks, just know that the only things you really need for STK are: modelling (object and edit mode) and uv texturing (and also a tiny little bit of materials if you wanna use the newer blender versions)

There is a YouTube series on how to make a STK track but it's in German and also a bit outdated (could still help to get an idea of it tho).
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhva ... ZFFkWMJnKe

And there is of course the STK website it mostly focuses on how to setup your scene for the exporter. But it also has some useful tips and tricks.

Otherwise I would suggest that you just look for tutorials explaining the things I listed above.

Hope that was helpful ;)

One track this game is missing is a generic racetrack similar to the old Racetrack from 0.6 but with a completely different layout which could introduce players to all the game's mechanics including making turns, skidding, avoiding bananas, and collecting and using items and nitro. This could replace Hacienda for the tutorial and could take place either inside an indoor stadium or it could be an outdoor racetrack partially in the woods and partially inside a city or near a lake.

I like this idea. I did make a ranking of all the official tracks a couple years ago (and looking back at it, I could have done that a lot better) and suggested that Oliver's Math Class, the shortest track in the game, should be expanded so that it takes place in the entire school and not just one classroom.

Hello fracture,
I agree with you for one race basic for learn at the noobs the controls of the game. I see that like a first track in the history mod.
Yes it's really a very good idea which I had already thought of .
