Track idea: mini golf

I think a good idea for a new track would be a few holes of a mini golf course. Karts would be about the size of a golf ball, and the track could go under a windmill (propeller would stop you if you don't time it right):

Nice idea , now if you're not a graphist, I suggest you to find free (open source) models you want to be include in game,
then make a plan, a top view of track, give a us a lot of pictures and draws from this theme

this is the main way to hope to see your track made
Ideas to making tracks are a lot but graphists are few

I've been working on this for a few days. Busy at the moment, but hopefuly I'll have some time to provide an alpha soon.

Looks nice ! Don't hesitate to add funny stunts & features to your track (ideas here).
Also, please think to add a checkered start-line if it's not already done, and to keep the poly count not too high (you can activate the "show FPS" option to see the ingame triangle count).

I like this! This reminds me of the Putt putt custom Mario Kart Wii track. Keep up the good work, I look forward to testing this!

Could you give some feedback on this?
Don't mind the ugly golfballs, I tried to get normalmapping to work on them, but failed misserably...
The music is very much a placeholder (it's the Belgian national anthem and no, I'm not Belgian).
Let me know what you think.

Hmm not bad, but the thing is, there are place when we easily lose control over the kart. That is on the zigzag track before the windmill. Many of us (even the expert AIs) would need to be rescued there. I think it is because of the irregular surface + sharp turn combo.

And then the fin of the windmill should be longer I think, so you have to manage not to get hit by it :D and thus adding the fun part of it.

Yes, the u-turns are hard to get right. I'll work on those. I tried to make the windmill so you could get hit by it. But with the simplified collision shapes that STK uses I couldn't get it to work correctly.

In any self-respecting mini-golf course must have a windmill that knocks golf balls away!

P.S. The Dutch have a saying: "Hij heeft een klap van de molen gehad" ("He was hit by a windmill"), which basically means: He's crazy.

Hi,

very nice work, congratulations!

I would recommend smoothing the ground however, in some places, as what noted by others, it is a little bumpy and thus hard to drive. In a couple placed the road is a little narrow too. If you can fix this I think this could be a very great track!

Also using more accurate collision shapes can most likely be implemented, if we have a track that needs it then it's a good incentive to do it :)

Maybe the drivelines of the track need to be polished a little ? In some places I see the AI karts driving oddly...
