New Track : "Green Valley"

Hello,

I've created a new track called "Green Valley" which I'd like to add to STK Add-Ons. I'm not sure about the license of two pictures (water_light2.png and water_light3.png) which I found in the Secret Garden track. Does somebody know more about these files? Feedback/Criticism is also very welcome!
Thanks for your help and STK is great! :)

I just did a quick test (can't test too much while at work :D ) and I liked the track, thought it's a bit long it's also easy to play and complete.

Long easy trakcs are not a bad thing. Some people (kids) are not ready for the challenge.

Hi,

this is a very nice track, congratulations!!

I must just agree with others that it's quite long, I think it would be better if it was a bit shorter. Also in a few places the LOD on trees is maybe a bit too visible. But very nice job overall :)

I really like the design of the track. I think more varied scenery might help keep the track interesting while keeping the length though. Personally, I think you should be able to know exactly where you are in a track just by looking at the surroundings (i.e. certain areas of the track have unique decorations). You've already got a really good start on that. Maybe within the theme of the track, you can add some kind of meadow or something to help break up the seemingly endless grass.

Keep up the good work, this is exceptional already!

Thanks for your replies! I'm going to upload the track to STK Add-Ons soon. Since most of you suggested to make the track a bit shorter I will do that too, though it could take some time ;)
I also think about adding a small farm to the track. Does somebody know where I can find textures and if I can reuse the sheeps/cow from the scotland and the farm track?

Very nice work ! Not boring (It's not a short track, but not TOO long to me, btw), beautiful, not too much polys...

Don't hesitate to add some stunts and original features to your track if you are willing to modify it (even some stuff STK does not manage for the moment). See some ideas here.

You should take a look to the tracks' license to know if you can reuse some content from them, but I think it should be OK if you choose a similar license for your track...

I personally don't think it is too long. It is nice to have variety among the tracks, with some short fast ones, and a few long low-stress ones (amazonian jungle and this one).

Suggestion: I think it could be awesome if this track featured a waterfall: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlF_mPzyIbI

The cow in farm is something I made very fast, and I think it's quite ugly, so if you want to add cows please make nicer ones ;) but license-wise you sure can

@Auria
Don't worry, this was intended to be a rather general question on licenses of animals I remembered from various tracks ;) Sadly my current abilities with blender are not good enough to create animals myself :(

Don't make it shorter Wolfs. However, do learn to add zippers and other things that can make it quicker to get around.

Yes, that's a good idea :). I haven't thought of that.

Well personally it's still make it a tiny little bit shorter, I find 1:40 too be too long. Maybe with a tiny little bit shorter road, plus zippers and nitros, we can race it in 1:20 or so which is good

Good track! As said, it feels a bit empty, but I especially like that it goes much up and down, without being as extreme as Coyote Canyon and Shiny Suburbs. A bit of elevation change is important IMO for making a track interesting. So well done so far; can't wait to see further improvements. :)

If you use zippers as a cheap way of shortening the track, please make it as wide as the road, or put them in places where the AI is likely to use them as well. Otherwise, it'll be too easy to get miles ahead of the AI.

...Or the devs could try to fix the AI. :P

@DJHelium
Yes, this would be great :)

By the way, I'm currently reworking parts of the track. It's a bit shorter now and has got a waterfall (which is still very basic, though). I've also planned a flock of sheep near the finishing line.

Maybe you could check the beach track from STK 0.6, I think the waterfall in it was not too bad :) and you could reuse the texture

@Auria
This texture is really nice :). Unfortunately the license of the beach track says that the track is released under GPL, without information about the textures. My track is released under CC-BY-SA 3.0, which is not compatible to GPL, as far as I know. Do you know the specific license under which the waterfall texture was released?

Ah yes, this texture was by me, and I give it to you under CC-BY-SA 3, no problem :)

This is the second version of the track. It's shorter and features a small waterfall and several sheep. Feedback is welcome!
