My new track (XR591 improvement)

Hello :)

After zen garden, I'm working on a new track. I started some concept art and mockup. For this new track i want to try a similation of volumetric lights and of course netbook friendly. It would be great if STK can have a light mapping support.

My first picture

I know it's a bit strange but more comming soon

samuncle, I am really glad you're making all these efforts to help make STK a better game. :)

Yes, strange picture indeed, but we're looking forward to seeing your idea unfold. :)

Korean stuff ?

Don't hesitate to add some stunts & cool features to your track (eventually, see some ideas here). Even if STK does not support well a feature yet, it can be improved for your track so it enlarges the possibilities for the whole content of the game ;)
EDIT : see what hiker said about this last point :p

Can't wait to see your new contribution :)

As for lightmaps, what I've seen from the code tends to convince me that it supports them with the B3D format. The main thing is that the models need to have 2 layers of UV coordinates. I don't know if the Blender B3D model supports it however.

Looking forward to your contribution too, this "logo" reminds me of Korean too, and of Rollcage/Wipeout :)

I like the new version of track, it is more or less how I wanted to draw it or how should have drawn it.
The original track had just too psychedelic colors.
Now it gives me really the feeling of driving somewhere in outer space, where aliens lives.
What I miss a bit are the gray robots.
Is it by purpose that the green alien family has half diapeared into the sand? To me it looks cool.
Cheers

I also like the improvements!

I agree that a few spots need walls for safety(!) and indication of the path when you can't see where it goes.

I think I discovered a rescue bug on this track while driving on the reverse mode.

You can see the issue in the video at about 1:07. When the player gets rescued he will be reseted far away (where he was at 0:44):

(I'm sorry for the poor video quality. Does anyone know a better desktop recorder than "RecordMyDesktop" on Ubuntu? )

I'm not sure whether this bug is related to driving reverse or if it is a bug manifested in the track itsself. I guess it is the latter.
The STK version is the 32bit nightly build on Ubuntu 12.04.

Your improvements, such as moving the nitro on to the track more, are nice, but I still prefer the old version more. The new one just has so little visual excitement compared to the old one.

hmm if everything is fine when driving forward then it could be something wrong with the backward mode :(

Now this track have some nice big light beam in the sky. I have added a lightmap and many light source. For example the acid lake glow with a nice green.

I have also added a reference to the NASA news. Curiosity is now on XR691 with is "boyfriend" the slug
