Industry 0.7 (was: Trouble converting "industry")

Postby sj04736 » 14 Aug 2011, 09:35

I'm trying to convert Ivar ten Cate's "Industry" track, and I've run into an issue where the materials for roadcones and roadblocks are for some reason not exported. I don't know if this is an issue with my .blend, or an issue with the exporter. Basically the cones and blocks appear in the correct color in blender, but in game, they appear white. Have I missed something? Any help would be appreciated.

(note that this is still a work in progress - I did not have an original blend file, so I was working backwards from the .ac files - still need to put in drivelines and items)

I've attached all the files I have. I used Blender 2.57 and the latest exporters from SVN. (I tried again with Blender 2.59, same result)

Thanks

blender 2.58

When I exported with some svn version that I used, the color was right but the signs (physical objects) were standing on their heads.

I'll attach the files that had working red-export (but the phys objects still were upside down) but I don't know their revision. probably 2-4 weeks old.

I tried the latest svn: they were upside down and the supposedly-red block is white.

Playing around with the material properties and renaming it didn't help.

Maybe "WARNING: Active Group '' not found" has something to do with it.

Stephen and I discussed on IRC, and the problem was that material colors were used, which are not really supported. Using vertex colors instead fixed the issue

As Auria stated, the color problem is fixed. I've opened a ticket regarding object rotations here: https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/super ... ticket/377

So keep in mind materials no longer work, and vertex paint should be used instead.

Update:
The bug regarding rotations is fixed. Note the fix (which will be in STK 0.7.3) also fixes rotations in Classic Tollway. This track will have movable objects in odd positions for versions 0.7.2 and previous.

The track is *almost* done. I'm still removing a whole bunch of redundant faces to bring down the triangle count, and fixing graphical bugs as I find them.

Feedback is welcome, if you notice anything.

[edit] removed old file

This should be a complete conversion. I'll upload this to STKAddons unless there's any outstanding issues.

[edit[ Newer version is at http://stkaddons.net/addons.php?type=tr ... e=industry (pending approval). The attached file is out of date.
