I have some exciting news! We have been granted permission to use the OpenSuse trademark. If it is completed before September it can be featured on at the OpenSuse Conference. :)

On behalf of the openSUSE Board, we are happy to inform you that you are granted permission to use our openSUSE trademark in conjunction with the SuperTuxKart fan derivative. It looks like a fun and exciting initiative on your part.

Additionally, as the openSUSE Conference is coming soon to Nuremberg on September 11-14, we would love very much if you could send a screencast of Geeko/SuperTuxKart in action, if it is ready. We believe this will be a fun demonstration to display to our conference attendees.

Please note that this permission grant comes with certain conditions. First, as the openSUSE logo is a registered trademark, you must agree that use of openSUSE logo and Geeko likeness reflects the openSUSE Project in a positive manner. Second, you must agree that use of the openSUSE name reflects its proper capitalization which is "openSUSE." Third, you agree that this permission is specifically for use with your SuperTuxKart fan derivative and that you will not authorize others to use the openSUSE trademark outside of the bounds of this permission. Fourth, you must acknowledge that the openSUSE Project and its sponsors (SUSE/Novell/Attachmate) accept no liability for your use of the trademark. And fifth, please be aware that we retain the right to revoke this permission at any time for any reason (or no reason.)

We very much look forward to hearing more about your continued work. Please feel free to drop a note with updates and we'll be sure to let our community know about it.

Thank you sincerely for your support of the openSUSE Project,
Bryen M Yunashko
openSUSE Board Member

I may need to ask additionally if another color scheme would be allowed, but I am pretty sure they would prefer the grey as that is the proper depiction of their logo. Let's finish this thing! :D :D

If I understand correctly, this permission is useless if the intension of STK is to keep all assets share-able.

And fifth, please be aware that we retain the right to revoke this permission at any time for any reason (or no reason.)

Modifications by others is prohibited. They can revoke the rights if they want.

Then again, this is trademark, not copyright. And I am not a lawyer. So I don't know if perhaps there is no problem here.

However, with Add-Ons, we can still use the kart, because we can comply with their terms and remove the kart later on if necessary. We just need to make the license clear. As far as I'm aware, as long as the license is very clear you should be ok. If all else fails, remove the logos.

1) Kart needs to be widened at the sides
2) Wheels are too small
3)Wheels are too small
4)Wheels are too small

I think it is really good the way it was when I downloaded it – wheel size is OK, in my opinion, as is width. It is a really good kart, so don't ruin it by changing that. ;)

Pfff. Just being frank :|
This kart looks less polished and more like a toy; Emule or Suzanne would be a much better kart to show the OpenSuse guys IMO.

Being frank doesn't prevent from being nice, just say things politely when judging the work others are doing (for free, one should add in this case).

Well, I could make a bigger version, but I was going for the little toy-style effect. (Since some of the other characters also look cartoony)
If it's ok I'll go ahead and upload it + source to STKAddons.net.

hello, my nephew Piero, 4 years old, played supertuxkart today and really liked the new kart Geeko, created by you. He can write on the PC, so I said him to write something to you, here's what he wrote:

hola abla piero crea pistas y karts
geñal geko es rapido
marcos jugo com geko
yo quiero que crees 100 o 1000 pistas

(sic)

translation:

hello, talking piero: create tracks and karts
gecko is great and fast
Mark played with geko
I want you to do 100 or 1000 tracks

Cheers!

PD: my name is Marcos Guglielmetti, founder fo Musix GNU+Linux, supertuxkart made some people of my family to use free software.

Just thought I'd congratulate you on probably having the only (and if not only, one of very few) add-on that is included in a Linux distro's main SuperTuxKart package! (I installed SuperTuxKart on openSUSE 11.4, and it had Geeko included with no need to add it.)
