Problem with export track in blender.

Problem with export track in blender.

Postby toshun » 31 Jul 2011, 22:32

Hello. Sorry for my english. I want to create my own track for supertuxkart. I have read manual. I did follow things:
1) Create a track with texture (2^n x 2^n jpg) with curve, which became mashes
2) ctrl+k -> bound texture like in manual.
3) installing in blender STK browser.
4) Fill fileds name and so on. Make driveline and checklines. Change some parametres for each texture and after press "export" and export it to usr/share/games/supertixkart/data/tracks (also i tried create my own folder and export to this folder, but there is no result.). But in the game there is no my tyrack. What's wrong?

-- supertuxkart exporter | SVN version:Unknown | (c) Joerg Henrichs (hiker)--
Writing track file --> No music file defined, ignored.
No screenshot defined, ignored
0.000300168991089 seconds
Writing quad file --> 0.00132989883423 seconds.
Writing graph file --> 0.000142097473145 seconds.
Exporting track --> 0.180481910706 seconds.
Writing scene file --> Exporting water --> 1.90734863281e-06 seconds.
0.00030517578125 seconds
Writing material file --> 0.000182151794434 seconds
Finished.

P.S. i tried add name of my track in the /usr/share/games/supertuxkart/data/grandprix/alltracks.grandprix but the same result (no result).

Hi,

can you post the output on terminal when running STK?
Also maybe you can post the generated files here so we can take a look

Hi,

could you also post the directory content of /usr/share/games/supertuxkart/data/tracks and /usr/share/games/supertuxkart/data/tracks/<YOUR-TRACK-NAME-HERE> ?

Thanks!

Hi,

which blender export script did you use?
When I export the file from my own blender, the output is correct

I used stk_browser.py how wrote it manual. Also i tried Stk_track.py. I read the topic "my first track [wip]" and i decide to compare the files, and it's very similar, i mean that my xml files contains all that that files contain. May be my files must be move to some magic directory or i have to fix some file? Can you describe detail how export, which files i must use for script and what i must do after generating files?

How to export is simply using menu File > Export > SuperTuxKart Track

The problem is this line in your scene.xml :
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
  <track model=".loc_track.b3d" x="0" y="0" z="0"/>

I have honestly no idea where this line comes from, here it says "silverstoun2_track.b3d" at it should :/

The location was correct: /usr/share/games/supertuxkart/data/tracks/silverstoun2 (so there is /usr/share/games/supertuxkart/data/tracks/silverstoun2/track.xml etc).

I have tried, but no result again... With File->Export->Super Tux kart track everything is cool in track.xml and scence.xml, i send my complete folder which is located in /usr/share/games/supertuxkart/data/karts/silverstoun2 can you open in blender and export again and check there is a track in trhe game or not please? SKT auto must add my track?

bobo@bobo-System-Product-Name:/usr/share/games/supertuxkart/data/tracks/silverstoun2$ ls
asphalt.jpg Korol-i-shut.ogg scene.xml strelialki_3.jpg
graph.xml materials.xml silverstone_track.jpg track.xml
grass.jpg quads.xml silverstoun2.blend
*.jpg sand.jpg silverstoun2_track.b3d
bobo@bobo-System-Product-Name:/usr/share/games/supertuxkart/data/tracks/silverstoun2$ supertuxkart
Data files will be fetched from: '/usr/share/games/supertuxkart/'
SDL_LoadWAV() failed to load /usr/share/games/supertuxkart//data/sfx/horn.wav

I tried it, and I couldn't have it work. So it must not be related to your computer only...

I couldn't find the problem, but there is a strange "*.jpg" file which cannot be read as an image...

The file "*.jpg" is actually an ogg vorbis (.ogg) file and seems to be the same as Korol-i-shot.ogg (though I didn't play it, so I don't know whether it's really the same).

The file "*.jpg" is side effect of coping all jpg files from folder to ./ ... Korol-i-shut.ogg is useful file and it normal plays.
However can you tell me by steps what i must do? I did the following:
1) Open blender
2) Create bezie curve
3) Create another curve to make the road, curb and the grass.
4) Bound second curve with first enter the name of the second in "ob" field of first.
5) Select all road and ctrl+c (or alt+c) converted it to meshes.
6) Select unwrap method pushing key "u" and select each part of the road (road, curb, grass, sand) pushing shift or ctrl+k. Bound texture.
7) Create with plane the main_driveline and create two plane-lines: checkline and lap
8) Install STK browser, in this a enter the song, the speed of each part of the road and screenshot of the track.
9) File->export-> Supertux track -> /*select directory /usr/share/games/supertuxtrack/data/tracks/silverstoun2
10) start supertuxtrack and there's no my track=(((
What i do wrong?

Hi,

looking at the output on the terminal you get:
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
[TrackManager] Warning: track 'silverstoun2' is not supported by this binary, ignored.

This happens because the track.xml file has version 2. This would indicate that you using a very very old track exporter. Could you just install the latest version? If you manually change the version in the xml file to 3, it is shown in the track list, but the display is all messed up (which might be just because it was exported with an older exporter).

Cheers,

What Blender version are you using? I think having the latest (2.58) is recommended for the new export scripts.
Hey pal, I took an oath for justice! "In happy days or tightest tights..." or something like that.

Hi,

actually the files you posted work just fine for me. Except the track is way too small :)

I recommend you activate artist debug mode http://supertuxkart.sourceforge.net/Artist_Debug_Mode this way in this kind of situation instead of aborting with an error you start flying and you can see what's wrong

Hey this is a funny view ! This kind of view would be great for the career mode later : a little like in super mario when we choose the level, but in 3D, and with simplified versions of tracks... Great potential ! Image

I have Blender 2.49a. Make it in Ubuntu.

Blender 2.4 is still supported and actually is supported better than blender 2.5 at this time so that's OK. Just make sure to make the track bigger (and to enable artist debug mode in STK)

It's not ./config, but ./.config (notice the dot which makes the directory hidden). However, your addons are probably in ./.local/share/supertuxkart/addons/ (and there I'd place the track as well).

the config will be in ~/.config (~ is your home folder). The .config folder is hidden so depending on your file manager there will be a different way to navigate there
