STK Blender Map Templates and starter kits?

Postby Monstertux » 14 Jul 2011, 23:45

Does anyone have any? I really tried to understand the tutorials on the internet but they don't work for me. :( Or maybe could I get someone to help me by like saying "Step one, click the texture picture. Step 2..." Please?

Thank you if you help

Btw, please don't redirect me somewhere. I really tried my best. :)

Hello Monstertux,

there is no easy way to do tracks easily with blender. I will tell you my experience to try to make you understand why it's not so easy.
I tried blender like many other freeware when I was learning ubuntu. I do a mushroom based on a video tutorial I found. I sent it on this forum (the old) and I found there a community which accept my little contrib with enthusiasm .

Video tutorial are rare this is why I buy a book with video lessons. ( This the way I learned blender. but ... )

I do an entire track with blender and I submit on forum, proud of me

After some efforts Canis Lupus made my track running. It was ugly due to problems of graphic engine drivelines ... I didn't read the wiki

Since this time , I continue learning blender and translating wiki to be easier for french friends.

I started to participate to supertuxkart on december 2008 and this is what I done since this time :

Nothing is impossible, you have to give you the time, and know : learning an open source software is never wasted time

Good advice, Rudy :)

Yes indeed Blender (and 3D in general) is not easy to learn so you will need to give yourself time. I'm afraid there is no way to make a "make a track in 1 hour" package

Did you try the tutorials listed on the wiki ?
This page's purpose is to become a list of good references to learn how to use Blender (then it could be useful to have one for The GIMP, too).

I'm sure there is already everything one needs to learn how to use Blender on the Web !

I think a really basic track (an oval with minimal trackside decoration and the essential components, a zipper or two, some weapon pick up points, and a start/finish line) would be a great way to help wannabe track designers get started.
