Russian and Ukrainian translations and some troubles with

Postby Vigonett » 23 Jan 2010, 12:28

Hi, guys. I finished my translation into Russian and Ukrainian language.
Never the less, i have some troubles with a few things. See below the images:

1. The following phrases are not showing in the race:Wrong way!, Penalty time!!, You won the race!, Ready! Set! Go!, New fastest lap. Instead it appears only exclamation mark (!).

2. Headers (Choose a cart, Race setup, Challenges: Trophy room, SuperTuxKart Options, SuperTuxKart Help, Credits, Grand prix, All tracks) are looked like this crazy sharp zippers:

3. 'On the beach' and 'Around the lighthouse' headers are absent in translation template list. So i couldn't translated them.

4. Headers of the game mods (Regular race, Time trial, Follow the leader) are absent in translation template list too.

5. 'Win Penguin Playground Grand Prix with 3 'Racer' Level AI karts.' Is 'Racer' level of difficult? If yes, than i don't understand. Translation template list contain only Novice, Intermediate and Expert. Which of them Racer?

And, i have one more problem. I can't sort with SVN by myself. Can i attach my .po and .mo translated files here? :|

PS Some exceptional symbols of Russian alphabet:
Й, И, Ё, Ц, Щ, Ш, Г, Ъ, Ь, Ф, Ы, Д, Ж, Э, Я, Ч, Б
Й, и, ё, ц, щ, ш, г, ъ, ь, ф, ы, д, ж, э, я, ч, б
Some exceptional symbols of Ukrainian alphabet:
Ї, І, Є, Ґ
ї, і, є, ґ
PPS Sorry If i created topic in a wrong branch.

Hi Vigonett,

none of our current fonts contain Russian or Ukrainian characters, so this is somewhat to be expected. Do you know any link to a good free font containing those characters? Also, the title font (the orange one) has an effect that was applied manually in gimp, sadly, so this font is not too easy to extend. We will need to look into making a font file for those fonts too (maybe I should look into writing a small program that generates those orange font files with effects automatically, but it's not so quick and easy to do)

Hi again

I am currently working on larger language support. Could you please upload your translation to me, so I can see if what I'm doing works?

thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the translation :) I have added it to SVN.
There is no need anymore for you to find a font because I already have.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to test your russian translation with the Alpha-1 release; but it works in latest SVN, and will also work in next release

For everybody who thinks uk->England: No, Britsh English is en-UK and ukrainian is uk-UA.

Ah, the complexities of ISO 639 and 3166. ;)
