Auria {l Wrote}:I'm not sure, I think it's a little too shiny, and the shape of the shininess does not seem appropriate for a sphere. Spheres have shininess like this : http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... sample.jpg

Okay,
Not all the time. I found the picture of the bowling ball a this lightning ;) that's why i use it (I usually use the one you show me).

And real bowling ball are really shiny.

I agree with Totoplus62 on the shininess. I think you (Auria) are being overly picky there. ;)

I'm going to have to agree with Auria on this, it just doesn't work. Of course I think that the shininess that Auria suggests is not quite right for the ball. Maybe if the light was just dulled down a bit but not scaled in?

The other icons doesn't have much shading either, so I think it's good to be consistent and either try to shade all icons more or just let them be.

Maybe this is better with a 5 tip star... (or maybe i should make it rotate)

Note: This is just a quick test

I'd not bother with the nitro bottle, just a plain gold star will do nicely :)

The problem is that wouldn't indicate anything.

Overrated problem. A player will very quickly understand that stars make you faster.

Unless they were under the impression that a star means that you've just passed a highscore or done something great.

the swatter icon doesn't look the best against bright skies. (though this may be a problem with the included version you mentioned something about Totoplus62?)

They'll soon learn that trophy goblets are the symbol for highscores and achievements

I think that the golden nitro is a good idea, as I had myself this perception of a nitro-like for this object.
In my opinion, the star refers to much to Mario Kart, and the totally different effect for something so similar is not the greater idea I have seen.

I'm not sure that this argument is very good... :|

Few points:
-Mario kart hasn't the monopoly of stars... :x
-There will be something on this star
-It hasn't the same color, it hasn't really the same effect

I'm waiting for the next holidays to work on this (and other features  )

They did not put the right one...
They put this one Image
instead of this one:

I pointed this but... i hope they will fix that in 8.1

Hello,

There is something i never liked in the game: zipper appearance
Because it does not correspond a real physical object, i changed its particle some time ago but i think it still look too much to nitro so i had an idea:
Image
I made a battery instead of current icon (maybe dark purple instead of black is better?) + new particle + new gfx file + other sound (The sound "wee" sound correspond to an electric sound that does already exists in the game, maybe i should try to find a new one)
I wanted the particle to be different from nitro smoke appearance, now this is a kind of electromagnetic field. The battery give you an electric boost :).

Image
I initialy wanted to make the "electric field" particle appear in the middle of the kart but i did not succeed. You can test by downloading .zip file, don't hesitate to test, to like/dislike it, and try your own changes :)
If people want to keep it in the future, they will have to put nitro particle appareance for slipsteaming because it correspond to zipper particle.

Have a nice day :)

I prefer the battery to nitro.

I really don't like the nitro appearance. It is dull, bland, awful colours and hard to see.

I don't want to change nitro, this is just for zipper item ;)

We can change nitro texture, nitro is a good idea and make this game original, i just agree with the fact it is hard to see: that's why i created this thread --> viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4127

Hello :)

I like your electricity effect. But I think our zipper is nice.

I see two potential use.
1) For nolok a super electricity powered zipper, like his hammer
2) For the cannon. It's (for the moment) an unused feature, but I think a beautiful effect like this one can be nice

For nolok: that sounds great :). I don't really know what is this cannon.

The battery is intended to replace nitro, correct? If so, I would recommend the current battery you have for small and a 9v size for the large. Maybe also add some lightning bolts to the effects to give it some more interest?

Here is an idea, replace zippers with a fan. When you use it, a fan blade would appear on your back and spin, blowing backwards and pushing you faster. It could also blow enemies back, reducing their speed. Then use the batteries for nitro.
