I think we can use WenQuanYi MicroHei font for East Asian Languages.
Their website is: http://www.wenq.org/
But acme_pjz ideas will make me thinking, the fonts are look like SimSum,So how about:
Choose between Microsoft Yahei(Search Google for Download) and WenQuanYi MicroHei?

Choose between Microsoft Yahei and WenQuanYi MicroHei

Microsoft Yahei is Windows Vista's default Chinese font, but I don't know what the license is ...WenQuanYi MicroHei is (?) Linux's default Chinese font, also a great choice...

We have already found a Chinese font, so I think it should be ok without those

Hi,

acme_pjz {l Wrote}:There are some screenshots and po file (beta only, may contains mistakes :) )

those two problems should be corrected in SVN :)
(The options screen still has formatting issues, but there is space left on the right, so I guess you could just add space characters between words to let the engine warp the symbols?)

Tell me when the translation is considered "stable" enough, I will commit it

The picture 2 "SuperTuxKart Help" title Help's Chinese translation is 2 characters, but the first character doesn't display, only second character displays, a weird bug (see picture below)
untitled-1.png

And this bug also occured at in-game messages (I tested, using a different font)

I guess you could just add space characters between words to let the engine warp the symbols?
Currently I use "\n" to warp the text, no spaces ... I'll change it and see if it will be better...

Rehi acme_pjz,

I found the bug and fixed it. Latest SVN should work pretty much perfectly :)

Again, I haven't yet committed your translation because you said it was beta; when you think it is good enough just tell me, I will add it :)

OK, just in one or two days... And there still are some issues: First is there are some messages can't find in pot files (see picture below) so I can't translate them now (I checked latest SVN revision and still can't find)

The second question is should I translate the Grand Prix's name and challenge's name?

PS: I think it's Irrlicht FontTool's bug (or the parameters are wrong), I checked the XML file and found that it didn't export all the characters, some are missing :| ...

At least in latest SVN, the "keyboard" string is present in the .pot :

{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
#: src/states_screens/options_screen_input.cpp:234
#, c-format
msgid "Keyboard %i"
msgstr ""

PS: I think it's Irrlicht FontTool's bug (or the parameters are wrong), I checked the XML file and found that it didn't export all the characters, some are missing :| ...

Which characters are these?

I translated "Keyboard %i", and it displays correctly in options screen, but in kart-select screen it remains untranslated, and in mode-select screen the mode names are untranslated (I can't find them in .pot file)

There is .po file according to SVN revision 4528, which I think it's stable enough, except for Grand Prix's names and challenge's names and descriptions are untranslated, because I'm not sure they will change in STK0.7 or not ;) ...

thanks, I added the translation to SVN :D

You were right about the game mode strings, I had to change the pot generation script a little. Latest SVN contains the strings

An online system for translation would be really cool.
I once helped translate Ailurus on launchpad, well, it's really convenient!
I once tried to modify the french traduction for STK, well, I didn't find where to put my new translation, and how be sure I had the latest version of the translation.

would be cool, but I have no idea if SourceForge supports anything like that

the reason why you're not sure you have the latest is partly because STK 0.7 translations started coming in a bit early :) usually we'll make a release candidate, where strings are frozen; then you can just get the strings from the RC (or we can even post them online)
